Is BoomPlay the most user friendly Music App in Africa?
Since its inception April 2016, BoomPlay (Formerly Boom Player), a creation of Tecno Mobile, has stood out from the rest of the other music players. BoomPlay comes with both online and offline playlist feature called the Discover and Library respectively. The offline(Library) consists of Songs, Albums, Artists, Videos, Playlists, all from your local storage…while online(Discover) is divided into 3 sections…Music, Videos and Buzz. The Music is divided into sub categories (Trending, followed playlist, Charts, New Releases, Suggested Users, Playlist, Albums etc.). The video also has sub categories like the Music Videos, Interviews, Documentaries, Talk shows and much more. The Buzz is filled with live feeds of latest News events.
One of the reasons BoomPlay stands out is because it offers only African Indigenous content in its online store. It boasts of a robust collection of African music ranging from classics to latest music.
Another edge the BoomPlay has over other music players is because of its parent company, Tecno Mobile, which made sure it came preinstalled with every device sold since the app’s inception in April 2016.
One of the cool features of the music player is the celebrity playlist. Various celebrity playlist is uploaded and fans can download anyone that takes their fancy. Later this function was discontinued and remodified to Followed Playlists where almost every day new playlists are created and named after the day e.g. Man Crush Monday, Woman Crush Wednesday, Throw Back Thursday, Jumu’ah Session, Sunday Best etc.
Over time, various updates have been added to improve functionality of the app. For example, early this year, the Boom max was integrated into the app, thereby making the app have equalizers and other sound editing plugins which were originally not present on the app.
Another feature that was integrated is the Share Playlist feature which enables users to be able to create a playlist and share with other users. This feature is particularly useful in situations where you are indecisive on the songs you want to select in a playlist.
Other functionalities present on the app include Recharge option (which enables you to purchase coins to download music with), the Daily Lucky Dray feature which allows you to spin a wheel once a day and win coins from 5 - 100, Subscribe, Radio, Preorder and much more.
One mind blowing feature also present on the BoomPlay is the New Music Alert. Once an artist releases a new song, you almost immediately find it on the BoomPlay. This makes it easy for fans to be able to follow up on their favourite artist new releases.
BoomPlay can be called the Spotify or iTunes of Africa. It is not just a music player; it is an embodiment of great stuffs.
