Liverpool have rejected Philippe Coutinho’s transfer request after he told them of his desire to move to Barcelona, Sky sources understand.

The player’s transfer request came hours after the club’s owners Fenway Sports Group released a statement saying “no offers will be considered” for Coutinho this summer, with Jurgen Klopp backing the owners’ sentiments.

Liverpool have so far rejected two bids from Barcelona for the Brazil international, with the latest offer worth up to £90.4m.
