The PDP Convention And Matters Miscellaneous by Enaburekhanjosh(m): 7:39am On Aug 13, 2017
Just when silence is golden and time is being spent on serious academic matters, these Nigerian politicians would tarry at nothing ,to get people to excoriate them. Yesterday's non-elective convention of Nigeria's Peoples Democratic Party (once upon a time, the biggest party in Africa) ,has lived up to it's billing as it has not failed to thrill. Having lost the General Elections, to the A PC, in such an excruciatingly disgraceful fashion ,the PD P, all but kissed the dust and has remained in political morgue /oblivion. God has a way of showing he is God. All the big wigs in the PDP that bared their fangs and bestrode our political (executive and legislative) milieu, were deranged and defenestrated. They were hounded and harangued. Some fled into exile. They took a hit for the economic morass that befell Nigeria. Only brave men like Fani Kayode and Ayo Fayoshe, were left,in fact ,to taunt the APC. Why not?. APC ,inherited what was left of Nigeria, after it was hemorrhaged by the PDP. Nigeria. Was still in a state and still is in a state that it could be revamped, rejigged and in the language of Senator Dariye, re- engineered for greatness. It is a truism that, the APC, which we supported and fought for, kissed the dust and unleashed on Nigerians, pains unbearable. The economy has nose-dived,jobs lost, values decimated, integrity deprecated and the father lsnf, desecrated. To cap it all, unfortunately, an ailing absentee president ,has allowed all manner of absurdities and abberations,to torment the fatherland: an overbearing national legislature, with it's feet of clay, cabals pulling the strings in the presidency,a traumatized judiciary etc.
With these jambalaya of oddities, the PDP, woes Nigerians. The former president- Dr Goodluck Jonathan's speech ,at the convention, pleaded with Nigerians,to help the party realize it's dream( an action that is ,for now wishful thinking or la- la- land),noting that under a PDp administration, poverty would be obliterated, the economy would be rejigged, healthcare for all wouldn' t be a mirage but reality and jobs would be provided. God is God, anyday. He withdrew that from the politicians, the carpet baggers, the milk with which they displayed their egotism, with which they grand stood, which which they lied to the people, With which they refused to help their kith and kins, with which they raped the motherland ,so that his name, would be gloried. It has indeed been one hellish period for PDP chieftains. I know that some have begged God: Father lord, give us the chance to serve your people again and we shall never fall foul of your injunctions. Since we exited power the anti- corruption watchdogs have taken all we have away and taken our honour. We are looked at as thieves before our children'. . God,being a forgiving God,may listen to their supplications.would these politicians change? Is a question that begs for answer. Most would resoundingly, proclaim 'No'.For now,at that conclave in Abuja, all manner of plots and alliances are being forged and cobbled together.if only, the politicians were genuine, altruistic and patriotic, the PDP, also boasts of men of wits, cerebral and fecund, to drag this country out of the woods of perdition. Great men like Clinton, Eisenhower and even in the modern era, the embattled and beleaguered Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyayu, shows great love for his country. Asked about what he would be remembered for. In an interview that aired last year, he said' I want to be remember as the lover of Israel...'. How many of our politicians ,genuinely, can say a thing like that about Nigeria?. Some of them have only missed red or white wine in state house, freed food and clothing's, the trappings of power. The panache, the lure and the lucre of power. Nothing else that they have missed. Some have no blue print of what it entails to govern. See the fate that has befallen most of the states in the north- central region.
Shameful.
It is also a matter of great concern, according to some conspiracy theorists ,that ,politicians have fingers in and have sponsored what is happening in Biafra and other insurgencies, across the country. I love the secret agency ,the DSS. At the appropriate time, the lid would be blown off the cover of such surreptitious politicians.Jesters have also, entered the fray. To be taken seriously or just to entertain?.I watched Ago Fayoshe's display at the venue of the convention yesterday, as he kick-started his campaign for President,2019. He wants to be taken seriously?.Presidency?.
In the next few weeks, I know that there would be a lot of movements and realignments that would see new entrants into the party. I pray that God eliminates the bad ones that have no good plans. For the ApC, it means sleepless nights. As it is, it appears confused as it faces imminent defeat in the jaw of the PDP.
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria and Happy Sunday to us all,as we look forward,to a brand new Nigeria
