Southampton have confirmed that the Chinese businessman Gao Jisheng has completed a takeover of the club, acquiring an 80% stake for around £210 million.

The deal ends more than 12 months of talks between the Gao family and the south coast club.

In November, the two parties failed to come to an agreement after entering a six-week exclusivity period.
