A former governor of Kano State, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has dispelled rumours making the rounds that he defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, alongside some lawmakers.
Mr Kwankwaso, who is now a senator, said it was a “malicious story” planted in newspapers and online platforms to tarnish his image.
Speaking to DAILY NIGERIAN on Tuesday morning, Aminu Abdussalam, the chief of staff to the senator, said the story was “malicious and totally unfounded.”
According to him, the senator and his supporters had not at any time contemplated leaving the party.
He said the story was planted by the Kano State government to cause disaffection among their supporters after the national leadership of the APC recognised the leadership of Umar Doguwa as the legitimate chairman of the party in the state.
“We have not at any time contemplated leaving the APC. We were surprised and deeply appalled when we read the story.
“The story was planted by Kano State government and some political opponents who are threatened by the mass followership Senator Kwankwaso enjoys nationwide.
“Kano State government was the one that planted the same story last year, and its agents are still the same characters spreading the false story.
“They are angry that the national leadership of our great party, the APC, has endorsed the Umar Doguwa-led chairmanship of the party in Kano and dismissed their sham congresses,” he added.

dey there dey believe anything you hear on media.

If nothing is seen about Kwankwaso, that news of crossing to PDP won't emanate.

The same way Musiliu Obanikoro was/is denying crossing to APC.

Kwankwaso crossing to PDP will kill his political career in the North. even if he decamped he will get a few votes from his own Kano state and he would lost woefully in the other Northern states.

Kwankwaso will likely take over from President Buhari come 2019. KWANKWASO/PYO 2019

I know in every "reaction", there was an " action".

But to clear all doubt,He has publicly denied.I need no soothsayer to tell me he is a bonafide APC member.

Daily post has joined bad gang. The way that news was reported without any particular mention of who said it made the news fishy.
With Shekarau in PDP it's highly unlikely that Kwankwaso would join.

APC IS STILL DEAD AND BURIED

GIVE ME ONE REASON WHY APC ISNT DEAD AND BURIED

JUST ONE!!!!

NIGERIANS WANT PDP SO BADLY

APC WOULD MAKE HISTORY IN NIGERIA AS THE FIRST OPPOSITION PARTY TO HOLD POWER FOR JUST 4YEARS

AFTER 2019 APC WILL BREAK UP AND ANOTHER NEW OPPOSITION PARTY WILL BE BORN

BUT PDP IS STILL THE PARTY TO BEAT IN 2019

DID U READ GEJ KNOCKOUT RESPONSE TO MALAM GARBA AND BUHARI...HAHAHA

all this people that are shouting APC or PDP abeg what is the difference because we nigerians dont even understand your different views or what you stand for. In life if something its not making you unique then you are ordinary so in the real sense there is no political party in nigeria. Its just a group of people who dont like this other group finish. In nigeria you just chose the party that will help you win so if you have more friends in PDP go there YOU go to APC
