We have always experienced a setback in the attention which is channelled towards food production in Nigeria with regards to the body governing the production of food and drugs in the country whose acronym is tagged NAFDAC (national agency for food, drugs, administration and control). This is due to several factors as we all know and understand. To a layman, food production doesn’t require much technique and skills as to be compared to drug production so to say.

We do not wish to affirm completely that food production is left behind by NAFDAC in Nigeria but we only wish to make an assertion on the little attention given to foods other than drugs. Speaking of the less attention directed to the food section of the country, we talk about leaving some food production companies to produce either table water, bread, meat pie and a host of others having no registered NAFDAC number on their leaf which simply shows that they are majorly not registered with the NAFDAC body in Nigeria.

It’s not a thing happening or even an impossibility to see a sachet of the drug in the market which doesn’t have a registered NAFDAC number on its leaf, simply signifying that the drug is registered and known by the NAFDAC body in Nigeria.

Dangers of eating foods with no recognition in NAFDAC.

The majority of Nigerians suffer from food borne diseases and also majority from food poisoning. The basic reason for this ailment that most Nigerians suffer is because foods which are taken day by day say meat pie, moi moi foil, zobo beverage, soy milk drinks and most ice creams are produced under no severity of law and following no specified standard stipulated by a recognised body in Nigeria such as NAFDAC. People do suffer from various kinds of disease including food borne disease and water borne disease like cholera, diarrhoea, typhoid and a host of other ailments as a result of poor conduction of food production techniques and also no set standards for food production is always considered or met. This is the main reason why.....

Food cannot eadily beregulated like drugs. They also focus on water in case you forget. Imagine what coud happen if all gaari must have NAFDAC number. On food people need to be educated on what to buy, where to eat and so on
