Osteoarthritis is also referred to as degenerative joint disease. It is a disease that can affect any joint like; knees, hips,  lower back and neck, small joint of the fingers and the bases of the thump and big toe.

The condition is triggered as a result of the break down of the cartilage covers.  The cartilage is a rubbery material which covers the end of each bone.
