Pastor Kevin DeYoung of Christ Covenant Church in Matthews, North Carolina, has questions for believers who think this is okay.

According to Christian Post, the preacher says that there is no compelling argument that gives Christians a pass to watch graphic sex scenes.

On Tuesday, August 22, 2017, he came up with 10 rebuttals for believers that defend the show in a post on The Gospel Coalition.

He wrote: “Does anyone actually think the apostle Paul (or any other apostle, or Jesus for that matter) would have been cool with the sensuality prevalent in ‘Game of Thrones’ (and so much of our entertainment)?

We are not talking about marble statues or a Holocaust documentary or a physician examining a patient. We are talking about two naked people doing in front of us what naked people do together.”

Moving on, DeYoung gave a list of 10 common criticisms he received for his article titled: 'I Don’t Understand Christians Watching Game of Thrones' and his answers for each of them.

To people who argue that he hasn't seen the show, he stated that “no one has tried to refute that ‘Game of Thrones’ is full of graphic sex scenes.”


There is a lot of debate concerning Christians and if they should be watching this HBO TV show. What do you think?

You can bury your head in the sand all you want but what you see in GoT is just a magnified representation of the occurrences around you:
People have sex everyday. Some go above and beyond for purely sadistic motives(Ramsay).
They kill each other en masse for extremely misguided reasons.(boko haram)
Our politicians, even more so than in GoT, cheat and lie their way to power, Plot assassinations and blackmail each other everyday(Littlefinger, Cersei).
Kidnapping & ritual killings ... (Melisandre)
Then we also have the victims of those crimes who are around us everyday.... Rape victims(Sansa)
Castration (Theon)
Kidnappings and attempted assassinations(Gendry).

Take your TV and smash it against a rock if you must, if that'll help you convince yourself that what you see on screen is just Hollywood trying to shove it's perversion down your throat. But I'll advise you take off your rose-tinted goggles for a second and take a real look at the world we live in....... Really, we see more violence perpetrated in our society today than we've got on GOT, I'm pretty sure people like the OP support's jungle justice and other forms of killing all in the name of justice, but when you see it on Tv, you feel Hollywood is trying to force violence into our society,

you also said sex scene, I really don't see why a normal adult should be complaining of seeing a sex scene, if your mind is as purified as you think it is then there should be no biggie on seeing a sex scene and as for that guy up there saying you can't let your kid watch GOT alone, I've got a question for you, when did GOT become a show for kids, the show is rated 18+, and if you are above 18 and feel uneasy seeing GOT, then make like my brother above me said and go bury your head in sand,

I feel there is a lot of problem in the real world, like poverty, greed & war that Christianity should be paying attention to, rather than focusing on a fantasy world like GOT
