.Imagine! 32 kings in one town. These people self.
Reminds me of Ikole Local government in Ekiti state; Every street has a crowned king. You will trek pass 10 palaces in 1 hour.

How are gonna escape brown-roof environment with too much traditional rulers?

The speed at which the whole process was conducted questions the sincerity behind it.

How will territories be marked out for the new kings? What will be the succession plan for them? How will new a olubadan emerge?

So many questions...without even looking at the financial burden that this will create on the already struggling local governments that have not had any election in the last 6 years...

I hope the constituted authority will be able to handle this...

The governor doesn't seem capable of thinking things through. That's exactly how returning school to the missionaries ended up creating a big mess.

This is nothing but an attempt to weaken the power of the Olubadan.

Besides, how will having 32 kings benefit Ibadan?

you understand the game. ajimobi is only trying to weaken the power in ibadan, and leave the alaafin of oyo as the all and all in oyo state. he wont dare suggest such for oyo kingdom. The bigger a kingdom, the more powerful. once you can dice them into tiny bits, they become very useless.

wisdom isnt democratic. the truth doesnt give a Bleep about how many people are with it. sit down and ask yourself why does ajimobi want this? would ajimobi dare suggest this for the alaafin of oyo? if ibadan gets this, wouldnt it become much weaker compared to oyo kingdom and ogbomosho? how many powerful kingdoms in Nigeria are tiny? is the sultan's domain smaller than ibadan? is the emir of kano's domain smaller than ibadan? would the oba of benin be as influential if his kingdom comprised just oredo local govt where his palace sits? do politicians give a Bleep about places that have numerous kings? believe it or not, part of the reasons why the igbos are toyed with in every govt is because they dont have a powerful king who they answer to, almost every village in the east has its own Igwe, this makes it harder for them to get things done. compare with Benin where the Oba's word is more important than that of the Governor, where people would rather have their case heard in his palace court than in a legal court and everyone obeys the judgement. Mind you Benin kingdom has several villages and local govt under it, each village has a small king (Enogie) or Odionwore but they all answer to the oba. They are not stupid, they know they have a better bargain this way. The north isnt all and all in Nigeria today because they are the most intelligent.. a zoo rather have one roaring lion than a thousand meowing cats.

Ajimobi is only baiting you guys, one powerful king is of more economic importance than a 100 unknown names wearing a crown. he is just looking for less opposition. Once this happens, the alaafin of oyo is the only crowned monarch that would have a say in oyo state.

Ladoja is being a hypocrite in this matter. He tried to do the exact same thing the current governor is about to do but could not due to his political problems at the time. Other governors before and after Ladoja also tried to implement this but couldn't for political considerations. The fact of the matter is that this is long over-due, and only a second-term governor can muster the political will to effect this change in the traditional system of the city. The decision is a unanimous one that enjoys the support of all relevant stakeholders.

There are some important and far-reaching decisions that some governors have to wait till their second term to implement (because by then they will have nothing to lose since they won't be standing for re-election again, so it is only natural that Ajimobi is the one finally taking this step since he's the first 2-term governor in the history of the state). The Olubadan should deal with the reality of times.

sometimes I wonder how some of you reason... so you feel their salaries won't be paid. what about new palaces., official cars, a lot of attendants...think before say anything ok

This is intelligent. Ladoja is close in line as Olubadan. This might just be a ploy to reduce the significance of the throne.
