Hi, good morning. I woke up to 2 mails from Yahoo, asking me to ignore the message if indeed, I requested my account to be shutdown. And if I didn't, I should click on a link to deactivate the request.
I didn't send a mail, asking I have my account shut down. I have seen from the link, I have to log into my account. This got me thinking it's a hack(?)
I don't want my account erased. What do you think?
Just ignore it. They are trying to harvest your email login details.

None for now. But you can set the plugin to generate a new certificate automatically and then notify you when the current one is about to expire. However, you will still have to manually enter the codes for the new certificate.

You can set up auto renewal using cronjob. Works perfectly.

You can autorenew your certificate. Been using it for over a year now.

It will encrypt your website but you will not get a green https, not in chrome or any other browser. (My experience with few free let's encrypt)
You will get a green padlock when you do it properly.

The site itself has been compromised.

That's a Phishing Attack...someone knows you use Yahoo and they want to get your account details.

This is wrong info. Letsencrypt works like any other SSL. Are you sure it's Letsencrypt cos I have not noticed this since been using it.

It works perfectly well like any other SSL if properly done, besides, with cronjob, it's renewed without human intervention.

I advise you ask your host to install it for you. Most reliable hosts has it and will set it up for you free of charge.

yeah,i did that but only one of the stylesheets works i.e the first one

Your CSS styles are read from top to bottm. So if you have a section you want to style referenced in both files, the one below will override the first one. If you're using chrome, right click the page and inspect element. Try to see the exact style your page is loading. It should give you a sense of where the problem is coming from.

Note: You can have as many css files on one page as possible.

One last advise, if you have been using one password for all your SM and other internet related activities, now is the best time to change them all...use different passowords for different accounts and the best passwords are phrasal passwords with a mixture of alphanumeric characters and symbols.

Yeah. Works like a charm!
I'm loving it. I no longer have to pay for expensive SSL certificates. .

You will get a green padlock when you do it properly.

The padlock doesn't have much to do with Let's Encrypt.

As a matter of fact, even self signed TLS( aka SSL to some) certificates work perfectly for the job.

The job is encryption.

The green bar or whatever bar, depends on the trusted Certificate Authorities of your client's device. There are standards, such as DV and EV, but those do not affect the level of encryption in any way.

I have installed my own CA on my device and my connection with my server is encrypted.
If you are serious minded about encryption, Let's Encrypt works.

If you are after assurance of a green bar or even extended validation, maybe for ecommerce, I'll advice you use a popular CA

You are right, however, the green bar is the only way non techies and browsers identify an encrypted and secure connection.

Most modern browsers are able to know the level of encryption. If not done properly (cipher strength, protocols, forward secrecy, etc). So when they show a green bar or padlock, it means it mostly a strong encryption. The certificate authority alone doesn't guarantee a green bar.

Using your own self signed certificate might give you a strong encryption but it won't be recognized by browsers as you are not a certificate authority.

Let's Encrypt is supported by most modern browsers

My blackberry Q10 doesn't support Let's Encrypt. In fact, my BlackBerry browser will issue a warning if any TLS protected site embeds content from an unprotected site.

I feel browsers have their standards;
Some will use the certificates installed on your device, others are installed with their own CAs, eg Orbot.
