Biafra: Desperate Abia politician behind plot to re-arrest Nnamdi Kanu

An opposition politician in Abia State who recently decamped to APC is behind the plot to re-arrest Nnamdi Kanu. He is working through various political and security channels as well as using his media resources to spread propaganda materials.

The opposition politician believes that his best route to Abia Governor's lodge in Umuahia leads through President Buhari and APC federal political apparatus.

It should be recalled that during the pendency of the recent tax certificate litigations against Governor Ikpeazu, we revealed to our people that the same politician signed agreements with individuals in the ruling APC to mortgage Abia State to some extraneous interests with anti-Abia agenda.

Time has confirmed our position to be true as he has fully joined APC and started implementing what he promised, in the hope that he will be supported in 2019 to take over the government house that he failed to acquire through judicial and physical force in June 2016.

Recently, after decamping to APC, the same failed politician sent his trusted goons to Abuja to march and welcome President Buhari with the images later splashed all over the media, through his funding, with the caption "Igbo Youths for Buhari storm Aso Rock".

Prior to that infamous outing, one of his media aides, Damian Igbokwe, who also participated in that march, wrote a series of articles falsely accusing Abia State House of Assembly of plotting to impeach President Buhari for going on medical vacation. Incidentally he could not substantiate that laughable claim that actually has no verifiable basis as the House never contemplated or raised any such issue in plenary or in private. In any case there is absolutely no constitutional connection between a state house of assembly and the impeachment or resignation of a President.

The plan was to drag the federal government into unnecessary conflict with Abia State Government.

When that ignoble plot failed to yield the desired result, the same goons decided to publish materials purporting that Governor Ikpeazu was praising Nnamdi Kanu's leadership skills while failing to even state where and when the Governor made the statement. The motive was simply to link the Governor with non-existent support for IPOB and their activities.

Just today, we saw a publication made with the false handle of Damian Igbokwe and Uche Ogah's social media goons tagged "Udo Abia" with the title "Nnamdi Kanu and his sponsors, the role of Ikpeazu". The material is also being circulated online by Uche Ogah's social media hirelings.

Summary of the poor propaganda job is simply that Governor Ikpeazu has not openly condemned Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB because he is their sponsor and should be investigated.

For the avoidance of doubt, Nnamdi Kanu's father is from Abia State and hence his son who is the leader of IPOB is a Bona Fide citizen of the state.

The last public statement made by Governor Ikpeazu on IPOB related issues was on the 30th of May 2017, when he fielded questions from state house correspondents at Abuja, who asked him about the sit at home strike organized by IPOB.

He said then that democracy espouses freedom of association and freedom of expression and therefore, as long as the execution of the sit-at-home exercise was peaceful, it was alright by him.

Ikpeazu said: “You know the beauty of democracy is that there is freedom of expression and we also have the freedom of gathering and meeting.”
“My experience in that area is that we have two major cities in Abia, Umuahia is quiet, Aba is calm also, government offices and agencies opened but it is up to businessmen to either open their shops or close them at will.”
On why the order may have been complied with, he said: “Two reasons. One, some people wanted to comply and the second reason is that a few people will want to close their shops for fear of hoodlums that may hijack the exercise to loot.
“So, in all, as long as no life is lost, as long as nobody is molested, as long as lives and properties are secured, it is okay. That’s my assessment of it.”

Since then the Governor has not made any public statement on the activities of IPOB.

Those who know Governor Ikpeazu will tell you that he is a thorough bred democrat who is a stickler for the rule of law. The Governor of Abia State simply believes that Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB are exercising their constitutional rights to freedom of association and freedom of speech guaranteed by our constitution.

As far as Governor Ikpeazu is concerned, the red line will be for Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB members to carry arms or disrupt the freedom of other citizens. Otherwise, he sees no difference between his political opponents organizing rallies and attending social functions in the state and what IPOB is doing.

The same Governor Ikpeazu has received repeated representations from citizens and travelers on the traffic disruption activities of some Nigerians of northern origin every Friday at Lokpanta, with additional information that the group is sponsored by his political opponent who is believed to have northern ancestry.

He simply responded that freedom of religion is guaranteed by Nigeria's constitution and if the worshippers break the law then he will respond. Quietly, he dispatched his aide to dialogue with the Friday worshippers at Lokpanta and asked them not to block the federal highway but continue to hold their prayers away from the major road that connects Abia State to Enugu..

If the offense of Nnamdi Kanu that warrants state clampdown is "abusiveness", as claimed by the politician's goons then the Governor should have started by clamping down his political opponents and their social media goons who have abused him repeatedly and lied against him and his govt.

It is also important to warn the general public about desperately ambitious Abia born politicians who recently visited some people working with the presidency to boast that they will "crush IPOB".

The plan of the desperadoes is simply to drag the state into chaos and blood letting that will force the Federal Government to impose state of emergency in the state. They have also hatched plans to infiltrate the ranks of IPOB and cause violence with a view to achieving their evil agenda.

We know them and we are watching them closely. They either allow the peaceful atmosphere in the state to continue or they will have themselves to blame.

On his part, Governor Ikpeazu is working with the South East Governors forum, Ohaneze Ndigbo and the Federal Government to find a peaceful end to the agitations by our youths. He rightly does not see violence of any kind as an option in managing the situation.

We therefore wish to use this opportunity to warn the failed politician and his goons to stop tormenting crises in our state. Abia needs peace to develop to her full potentials and we will not forgive anyone used by the devil to ferment crises in the state under any guise.

Signed
