What we don't value here is what others are craving for.

We have good local fashion products in Nigeria but our problem is branding.

Fashion designers like folake folarin, Deola Sagoe, Zizi cardow, frank oshodi, Soares Anthony, Lisa folawiyo, Duro Oluwo, lola faturoti are trying their best but it's not enough to meeting the teeming population demand and their brand awareness in the market is low hence targeting HNI customers against average citizens.

What ever made you believe these people you mentioned are the ones that can meet Nigerians demand? Enter hood and see lots of tailors that'll sew fine cloth for you. Deola Sagoe indeed...how many Nigerians can afford her and her kind...

That is the reason why I stated that they are targeting HNI customers of which they can still do more to average citizens.

Yes there are good tailors in market but their concept to become an international brand will remain low.

If we have up to 1000 strong competitive fashion designers in the market with international recognition, the issue of price would settle it's way to meet different categories of customers just like they have in oversea countries.

I am speaking from an angle that our fashion industry can also generate FX if we pay more attention to it.

African Prints! They are nice really and I belong to the cadre of Nigerians who appreciate them. I have it in four different colours- Red, Green, Blue and Purple. They're quite easy to wear, fashionable especially when worn with a pair of denim and good for the weather too.
