Chairmen of local government areas and local council development areas in Oyo State have thrown their behind behind the elevation and installation of high and senior chiefs to Obaship status by Governor Abiola Ajimobi.

In a statement jointly signed and made available to insideoyo.com, the chairmen explained the the governor’s action is in good faith.

The caretaker chairmen of local government areas and local council development areas in Oyo State declare our uncompromising supports for the genuine action of Oyo State Government for reviewing the 1959 Olubadan Chieftaincy Declaration, which gave birth to the recent coronation of 21 new kings of Ibadan by Governor Abiola Ajimobi.

We are absolutely convinced that the state government’s action was in the interest of Ibadan because it neither alter nor tinker with the traditional succession and ascendancy system of the Olubadan Chieftaincy structure.

Based on our opinions sampling, we understand that 95% of bonafide sons and daughters of Ibadan both at home and the Diasporas are fully in supports of the government’s action.

Governor Abiola Ajimobi-led administration did the right thing without any political gain, political witch-hunting and a calculated attempt to whittle down the influence and authority of the Olubadan as the supreme monarch in Ibadanland.

To this end, we implore individuals that are opposed to the action of government to be holistically in their perspectives and understanding of the Olubadan Chieftaincy review. We sue for peace and let us move forward together.

Meanwhile, we use this opportunity to say Barka De Sallah to our Muslim brothers and sisters as they celebrate Eid-l-Kabeer. May Almighty Allah Forgive our sins and grant our heartfelt desires. We urge the good people of Oyo State not to relent in their prayers and supports for Gov. Abiola Ajimobi as he transforms our darling state.
