Essentials Things Jambites Should Know About Jamb Cut-off Mark by vallysmart(m): 2:14pm On Sep 02, 2017
It is said that jamb has listed the full cut-off mark for tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

It is appalling that the so-called body called joint admission matriculation board (jamb) has sat and taught this over before implementing the cut-off to be (100 and 120).

The above cut-off mark will cause a lot of havoc to Nigeria education system as a whole even to the student they think they are doing good to not knowing indirectly they are killing their education career also causing havoc to our Nigeria education system .

What are they anticipating for Nigeria education, what are they aiming at, and what did they intend to achieve by implementing the cut-off below average. Then I ask, What now is the usefulness of jamb examination, when students who failed has chances with one who pass to be admitted in tertiary institutions .

I wonder what they encouraging students who score above average to do even the students as a whole. Can they stand the chance to compete with fellow students around the globe? “We are watching because long before now we said JAMB has outlived its usefulness. Let the universities set their unique standards and those who are qualified can be admitted. Scoring 120 out of 400 marks is 30 per cent. Even in those days, 40 per cent was graded as pass. But now JAMB said with F9, which is scoring 30 per cent you can be admitted. They deliberately want to destroy education. Even for polytechnic, the 100 cut-off mark is 25 per cent.

“It is sad. And that is where we are in Nigeria. They want to destroy public education at all costs. This is not setting standard for education in Nigeria. It is purely lowering standards and digging grave for the future. This is why ASUU is currently on the struggle to influence the government to do the needful for education in the country.”

NANS described the reduction of the cut-off marks for admission into tertiary institutions as “a gross misplacement of priority and an exercise in futility.”

“Even with the current status, the general phenomenon is that Nigerian graduates are not employable. The lowering of standards will translate to a disastrous outcome in the future by churning out young people who cannot fit into the demands and expectations of the 21st century,”

Please let the minister of education look into these critically we shouldn’t be concern with the present only but also the future .also Mr. president and other ministers to endeavor to address the issue at hand. Thank you Entergist media reporting.
