Gabon announced a ban on opposition leaders on Sunday, including former top African Union official Jean Ping, from leaving the country describing it as a “temporary, administrative measure”.

Interior ministry spokesperson, Jean-Eric Nziengui Mangala said, “This measure follows inflammatory comments by Jean Ping on August 18 when he called for public disorder, rebellion and insurrection.”

Ping, a 74-year-old career diplomat, was narrowly defeated by incumbent Ali Bongo in Gabon’s August presidential election and accused the administration of electoral fraud......... Read More below!!!

I really don't blame these African leaders who have turned their respective countries to their personal empire. Human, as they say is brutal and crude in nature if left unchecked. From Togo to Cameroon, Gabon to Congo, these men have turned their positions to dynasties, even when they die are being replaced by their children and relatives. They can go to any length to suppress any opposition in their ways.
The question is what is African Union position? Was African Union created to take care of these authoritarians or to protect the interest of the individual?
We need an alternative to African Union because all it does is to protect the leaders of its member countries not the people.
