With the 2017/2018 Premier league on the way, the premier league top scorers for this season are already of the mark with Sadio Mané and Romelu Lukaku with 3 goals each, followed closely by Álvaro Morata with 2 goals. They will draw inspiration from the top premier league scorers, and try to break their record.

Only Wayne Rooney and Jermain Defoe has a chance to improve on their overall goal tally in the premier league history. Here we look at the all time top 10 premier league scorers.

1. Alan Shearer – 260 Goals
He was the first player to reach 200 Premier League goals mark, and only player to score 100 goals for two clubs. He played for Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United.

2. Wayne Rooney – 200 Goals
He recently broke Manchester United club record by becoming Manchester United’s greatest goalscorer of all time with 253 goals for Manchester United surpassing Sir Bobby Charlton’s total of 249 goals. He has the second highest goals in the premier league after Alan Shearer. He is England’s all-time record goalscorer with 53 Goals, he recently retired from International Football in August. He still plays for Everton.

3. Andy Cole – 187 Goals
He spent six years of his career with Manchester United winning numerous trophies in the process. He formed a deadly partnership with Dwight Yorke. He played for Newcastle United, Manchester United, Blackburn Rovers, Fulham, Manchester City, and Portsmouth

4. Frank Lampard – 177 Goals
The only midfielder in the top 10. He is the Premier League’s highest scoring midfielder of all time. He is also Chelsea’s all-time leading scorer with 211 Goals in a Chelsea Shirt. He played for West Ham United, Chelsea, and Manchester City.

5. Thierry Henry – 175 Goals
He spent eight years at Arsenal where he was the club’s all-time record goalscorer with 228 goals. At international level he represented France and is also his country’s record goalscorer with 51 goals.
He only played for Arsenal in the Premier league.

6. Robbie Fowler – 163 Goals
A Liverpool legend, he scored a total of 183 goals for Liverpool. He was ruthlessness in front of goal and played for England 26 times, scoring 7 goals. He played for Liverpool, Leeds United and Manchester City

7. Jermain Defoe – 158 Goals
He is currently playing for Bournemouth and also still features in the England National Team. A natural striker who is still going strong at 34years of age. He has played for West Ham United, Portsmouth, Tottenham Hotspur and Sunderland

8. Michael Owen – 150 Goals
Owen first played for the senior England team in 1998, becoming England’s youngest player and youngest goalscorer at the time. He is a club hero in Liverpool where he helped Liverpool to win League Cups, FA Cups and UEFA Cup. He played for Liverpool, Newcastle United, Manchester United, Stoke City.

9. Les Ferdinand – 149 Goals
Les Ferdinand is a former English footballer and current football coach and Director of Football at his former club Queens Park Rangers. He played for Queens Park Rangers, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Leicester City and Bolton Wanderers

10. Teddy Sheringham – 146 Goals
He holds the record as the oldest outfield player to appear in a Premier League match (40 years, 272 days) and also the oldest player to score in a Premier League match (40 years, 268 days). He is currently the Head Coach of Indian Super League team, Atlético de Kolkata. He played for Nottingham Forest, Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United, Portsmouth and West Ham United
