Yar Adua's Purported "Return": Matters Arising by rasputinn(m): 6:42am On Feb 24, 2010
With reports monitored on the BBC(God knows how I hate to quote them as my source)early this morning saying that Yar Adua is back in Nigeria.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/8533380.stm

At about 2.00am(Nigeria Time) two presidential aircraft purpotedly bearing the president arrived. The smaller aircraft arrived first, then a large ambulance drove close to the aircraft after it taxied to a stop but later pulled back again without carrying anybody
Moments later,a bigger presidential aircraft arrived, the ambulance again drove very close to the aircraft and ALL OF A SUDDEN,THE ENTIRE VIEW WAS BLOCKED,after about thirty minutes, the convoy sped off into the night

On another development,it was reported that the members of the executive council of the federation that had gone to Saudi Arabia to ascertain Mr Yar Adua's state of health were expected to arrive shortly after the president's arrival.

The following questions have been thrown up ;

(1) If indeed it was Mr Yar Adua that came back with that aircraft,WHY BLOCK THE VIEW WHEN THE AMBULANCE PULLED UP TO HIS AIRCRAFT

(2)Was it his corpse or coffin that they brought back and didn't want Nigerians to know he's dead already?

(3)Could it be that he's still on life support,if so why hide it from Nigerians, why not wait in Arabia and let the EXCOF members see and verify his failed state of health

(4)If he knew he would be returning so soon why allow the EXCOF members to go on a wild goose chase, thereby wasting hundreds of millions of tax payers money

(5)Is Jonathan now expected to vacate the seat of the president which he presently occupies in an acting capacity? If so,is he not expected to hand over to A FIT man or should he hand over to a man reduced to vegetable and on life support

(6)Why does the Yar Adua clique treat Nigerians with so much disrespect

IMO,I think this is an opportunity for the EXCOF to constitute a medica panel to declare Mr Yar Adua incapacitated and national assembly to commence impeachment proceedings immediately

Nairalanders what say ye?
Re: Yar Adua's Purported "Return": Matters Arising by rasputinn(m): 6:59am On Feb 24, 2010

There's another disturbing dimension to the whole saga and that is from sahareporters;

"Two battalions of the Nigerian Army were deployed in Abuja without the knowledge of the **Acting President, Goodluck Jonathan. Visitors to Jonathan who were leaving the Presidential Villa were searched and mocked by soldiers that had been freshly deployed to the premises.

Saharareporters sources said members of Yar'Adua's kitchen cabinet members have told Jonathan not to sit on the President's seat at the Federal Executive Council meeting tomorrow, but that could not immediately been confirmed"

If the acting commander in chief of the armed forces did not deploy the soldiers then who did?

I laugh in Swahili at the vultures who think they can package a dead man to return to office just so their status quo of pillaging the national treasury will continue.

Wait, the angel of death will soon visit all of you one by one

As the Executive Council of the Federation (ECOF) meets today to continue deliberations on the state of health of President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, a group of professionals in the Niger Delta has demanded the immediate impeachment of the ailing president to protect the nation's democracy.

I hope he will preside over today's FEC meeting, LOl.

The fact is Yar’Adua assumed office not because the Nigerian population voted him into the Presidency, but because, Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo, the stupid, senseless, idiot, incestuous and shameless old wagon handed power to him, making him accountable to no one. The fact that Yar’Adua left Nigeria, remained incommunicado for 3 months, kept the entire country in absolute darkness about his health conditions meant that he’s morally unfit to lead this country. He has treated each and every Nigerian with ignominy and disrespect. In a civilized society, this would not happen. And, the only way the Lower and Upper Chambers can prove to the rest of the world that Nigeria is indeed an uncivilized, barbaric society is to allow this baboon looking beast, called Yar’Adua, to continue to rule this country. Then Nigeria is perpetually and irrevocably doomed.

I doubt if we will see UMYA today.
For Pete's sake,an ambulance picked him up from the airport to God knows where.
Let's wait for the FEC meeting.
Re: Yar Adua's Purported "Return": Matters Arising by Beaf: 8:03am On Feb 24, 2010
Jonathan will sit on the presidents seat at todays FEC. According to Sahara reporters, it was Obama that helped eject Yar Adua from Saudi.
Re: Yar Adua's Purported "Return": Matters Arising by cyriluzo(m): 8:05am On Feb 24, 2010
Lets Wait and see what happens. The man is at least supposed to write a letter to the National Assembly that he is back to the country before he can take-over power(That was part of the resolution that brought Jonathan in as Acting President) and after that he is expected to address Nigerians on a national television and also apologise to us for the trouble he and his kitchen cabinet have caused us. I bet non of this will happen. If they snicked him in the way they did it implies the man is either dead or he is not in good shape and hopefully he hopes to be runing Nigeria away from public view.

The question is , will Nigerians accept this?, Enough is Enough

Why treating Nigerians with so much contempt.

If the man is so fit, why would an ambulance aircraft bring him and why would another ambulance vehicle pick him up from the ambulance aircraft. It is obvious that this man is not fit at all and I doubt very much if he would attend tomorrow's FEC meeting.

One issue that has been thrown up by his return is that it will now become difficult to hide him from Nigerians no matter how hard they try.

The drama has just entered a most interesting and concluding phase.

This is what you get when you "elect" nincompoops as legislators. All this yaradua nonsense was because we have legislators who do not know their jobs and are only interested in "Ghana must go" bags.

I am sorry to say, but the Jonathan Goodluck acting presidency is Illegal and he is not the commander- in - chief of the armed forces. The real C-in C is back. As long as Yara dua did not write the National assembly that he is on vacation, or the National assembly did not impeach him or declare in Incapacitated, then he remains our president dead, alive or in a coma. That is the Nigerian constitution and the army swears to uphold it. As i have always said here, the National assembly has no powers to declare anybody as acting president, just like the state house of assembly has no power to declare anybody acting Governor.

Pure lie!!! The legality of the NASS resolution is not for Yar'adua to unilaterally ignore. If he believes Jonathan is not legally acting President then there are obvious legal means to challenge that. We are not a huge Motor Park run by thugs even though it seems so.

It took a NASS resolution to declare Jonathan Acting President

It will take another NASS resolution to declare Yar'adua President again if he is fit. Except he chooses to go to court to challenge the NASS resolution in the first place.

What is pure lie, That there is a section of the 1999 constitution that allows a resolution to declare a vice president as acting president? Yaradua does not need to go to court before he perform his duties, he is the defacto president. A national assembly resolution is just that - A Resolution, it is not legally binding. The Nigerian army and the armed forces are not bounded to resolutions, they are only bounds by Laws passed by the National assembly after accent (or not) by the president. The same way a National assembly cannot just wake up one day and pass a resolution to appropriate money without going through the full process of law making.

So who do you think the Armed forces will obey, Yaradua, Jonathan or the National assembly?

That Jonathan acting presidency just like the Shonekan Government is illegal and unconstitutional. And that the National assembly has powers to impeach Yaradua and Jonathan automatically becomes president and C in C, but they do not have powers to make Jonathan acting president. And the Yaradua's kitchen cabinet has the Laws on their side, because Yaradua can say that he did not inform the National assembly that he is on medical vacation, so how did Jonathan become acting president?

They will never understand, i forsee this already. But everything will soon unfold itself. This guys both NAAS and the FEC are playing a political stragtegy already written to secure Yaradu's mandate until he returns and not as what the constitution says. So sad that we Nigerians sits and watch as this scripts unfolds.

And the plot thickens, another dangerous angle is being introduced by Turai and the group of criminals benefitting from Yar Adua's ineptitude

Turai checkmates Jonathan

The handlers of the ailing President Umaru Yar'Adua who sneaked him into the country in the wee hours of today have not wasted any time in trying to wrest power from Acting President Goodluck Jonathan.

Unconfirmed reports speak of plans to make him resign if he doesn't toe the line now being drawn by Turai Yar'Adua who is now effectively in charge of the presidency. A number of ministers who were deemed to have been disloyal to Mr Yar'Adua, are also slated to be sacked, and Dora Akunyili is said to be top on that list.

A source in Aso rock confirmed that officials of the State Security Service had this afternoon gone into the office of Mr Jonathan and conducted a thorough search although it is not immediately clear what they were looking for. They were allegedly working under the directives of Mrs Yar'Adua.

Only a few hours after he arrived the country, and while he lies convalescing in a ‘clinic', aides to the President began systematically to divest Mr Jonathan of any opportunity to exercise the powers of the presidency. He has been denied access to the President and to any information that will keep him abreast of the unfolding drama. Sources say he is barely managing to avoid embarrassment as events keep changing around him and he only gets to hear of the changes after they were announced.

As early as 11.31am, while he prepared for the weekly meeting of the Executive Council of the Federation, a security detail entered the chambers and immediately secured the president's chair to prevent Mr Jonathan from sitting on it. Less than one hour later, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Yayale Ahmed announced that the Council meeting has been postponed. Instead, Mr Jonathan was scheduled to have a private meeting with the ministers. That meeting eventually lasted less than 10 minutes and the confusion was evident in the faces of some of the ministers who appeared to be sleep walking .

As part of the process of demoting Mr Jonathan, Presidential spokesperson, Segun Adeniyi has announced that from now on the Acting president will revert back to his previous status of vice President, although he will still need to hold the fort while the President recuperates.

However, there are indications that none of this is happening with Mr Jonathan's consent as he remained locked out of the decision making process. Although no one has come out to say he is under house arrest, sources say after the search of his office, the Acting president was effectively kept apart and the coterie of visitors that has been around him in the last two weeks is no longer evident.

As a sign that Mrs Yar'Adua is now in charge of running the presidency, the Acting President has been scheduled to meet with her this evening, and sources say the fate of Mr Jonathan may depend on how that meeting goes.

US concerns

The United States of America has raised concern over the sudden return of Mr Yar'Adua. A statement from its mission in Abuja today warns that the President's return may create chaos in the nation's polity. According to Johnnie Carson, the US Under-Secretary of State on African Affairs, the US government hopes that, "President Yar'Adua's return to Nigeria is not an effort by his senior advisors to upset Nigeria's stability and create renewed uncertainty in the democratic process."

The statement also touched on the president's health: "We hope that his health is sufficient to enable him to fully resume his official duties," Mr Carson said, adding, "Nigeria needs a strong, healthy, and effective leader to ensure the stability of the country and to manage Nigeria's many political, economic and security challenges."
