Plateau United on Saturday made history after emerging the champions of the 2017 Nigeria Professional Football League season.
The Kennedy Boboye-led team dethroned Rangers after beating the seven-time champions 2-0 on the final day of the campaign.
The title went to the wire on the final day with the League Management Company, the custodian of the league dispatching two trophies to Jos and Maiduguri as tw team, Plateau and MFM of Lagos still in the running to win the title.
The Peace Boys however do their own side of the bargain winning their match to make the other result inconsequential as they won their first league title after leading the table for 33 Match Days since the start of the season.
MFM on the other hand lost their match against El-Kanemi Warriors 2-1 although they already secured a CAF Champions League slot as they finished second behind the champions.
Meanwhile ABS and Shooting Stars of Ibadan joined Remo Stars and Gombe United in the Nigeria National League as they were both relegated on the final day.
ABS lost 2-1 away to Nasarawa United while Niger Tornadoes defeated Shooting 2-0 in Lokoja, the adopted home of Tornadoes.
Enyimba also claimed the final CAF Confederation Cup slot defeating Katsina United 1-0 in Calabar to edged out Akwa United who also won at home against Kano Pillars.
