This Thread is about the Different Miliatry Operations in the South Eastern Part of the Country and how the ended Operation OAU As the Name sounds it was a Militry Operation aimed at capturing Key Biafran cities of Owerri , Aba and Umuahia ( the same Umuahia that Operation Egwueke is currently taking Place) this was a battle between Nigerian 3 Marine Commando Division (3MCDO) and Biafran 12 Division in modern day south-eastern Nigeria the Biafran soldiers were outnumbered they were able to retain control of Umuahia and eventually recapture the cities of Owerri and Aba. The Operation OAU ended in a military disaster for the Adekunle led 3rd Marine Commando as they lost 99% of the 35000 Nigerian troops sent to capture the key city of Owerri , Aba and Umuahia. This disast was what eventually led to the removal of Commander of the 3 MCDO General Benjamin Adekunle . |
