Cristiano Ronaldo yesterday night proved this saying right as he “devoured” Apoel Nicosa with two goals on the night.

It will be remembered that Ronaldo has not had the chance to play a competitive game for Real Madrid for sometime now due to the 5-match ban placed on him by the Spanish F.A.

The European Champions’ League game against Apoel Nicosia surely provided him the opportunity to vent out his frustration as he went on to score a brace in that match as the defending champions got off to blazing start to this 2017/2018 edition of the Champions’ League.

Ronaldo’s first goal came from close range as he slotted the ball past the hapless Apoel goal tender. He then added a second goal from the penalty spot as Real cruised to a comfortable home victory.

The Zinedine Zidane-tutored side wasted no time in showing their intentions of retaining the title once again by thrashing the visiting side by three unreplied goals. The other goal was scored by Sergio Ramos.

This win moved Real Madrid to the top of the log in their group on goals difference ahead of Tottenham Hotspurs who were able to defeat Borussia Dortmund on the same night by 3 goals to 1.
