My Take/Submission: National Power will be defined in the context of commensurate strength in the key power indicators of people, resources, economy and military capability and not one area in isolation of the others.

There are 54 independent African states recognized by the African Union(AU) and the United Nations(UN).

There are presently 3 regional powers in Africa: 1. Nigeria in West Africa. 2. South Africa in Southern Africa. 3. Egypt in North Africa. Nigeria is the dominant power of the 3 and by extension the dominant power in Africa.

There are in Africa the sub-regions of North Africa, West Africa, Central Africa, East Africa And Southern Africa each with it's own regional organizations. Egypt is the dominant power in the North along with Algeria. Kenya in East Africa with the competing power of Ethiopia. South Africa in Southern Africa. Nigeria wields unparalleled power in West and Central Africa and is described as the sub-regional hegemon.

Diplomacy: East African Strongman President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda Is Visiting Nigeria. He met behind closed doors with President Muhammadu Buhari At The Aso Rock Presidential Villa, Abuja.

I don't quite go along with that line of the Nigerian press on the visit. Methinks this has something to do with being in the good books of the powers that be in Abuja considering his family is not exactly looking to relinquish power in Kampala any time soon. His son is being primed for power. With an eye on Burundi I always considered Uganda was a potential future hotspot over a power struggle. In the mix also is Kenya next door with the courts overturning the re-election of President Uhuru Kenyatta. Something definitely brought the strongman calling especially before the UN General Meetings next week.

History: We´ve Been Here Before 1967-1970. Will History Teach Us Anything With Today´s Secessionists Tendencies? Would One Agree That Odumegwu Ojukwu Fell Victim of His Own Quote: "The Road To Hell Are Always Paved With Good Intentions?

What Are The Dangers of Secession From A Geo-Political Point of View? Secession Will Create Smaller Insignificant States Without The Political & Economic Weight To Have A Voice or Seat At The Table. Nigeria´s Many Enemies Domestic And Foreign Will Undoubtedly Love Such An Outcome. South Africa Clearly Will Be The Beneficary In Sub-Saharan Africa. France Will Have The Bulwark Against Its Ambitions In Africa Removed. At Various Times In Its History Nigeria Was So Powerful In Africa That Its Military Commanders Deployed In Strife Torn African Countries Were The De Facto Rulers of That Country As In The Case of Brigadier General Maxwell Khobe, Commander of ECOMOG Forces In Sierra Leone Who Was Appointed The Country´s Chief of Defence Staff. The United States of America Still Unified After Its Bitter Civil War Between The Unionists of The North And Confederate States of The South Has Had Such Precedent During WW11 With Gen. McArthur And Many Other of Its Commanders Up To The Iraq & Afghanistan Wars.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWdlKAm88U4

The problem we have in Africa is leadership.

"Africa do not need strong men but strong institutions."

We have strong men,sit-tight leaders, and leaders whose disobedience to norms, values and laws is worrisome.
You cannot take away the fact the Westerners(I choose not to call them Imperialists),also want to devour what's left of African's Economy, but a template to be able to canvass for growth and development back home is key. These African leaders need to understand that.
They get loans and funds for intervention, and servicing/implementation is even better not explained.
Regional trade isn't working, setting up of committees to dissolve already existing committees is counterproductive.
The AU must begin to detail roadmaps to Africa's development. Most of the Worst wars are fought in Africa;malaria, polio,HIV,Illiteracy.
I believe, the Nigerian Problem is a peculiar one.
Nigeria,as giants of The ECOWAS is a nonproductive state,of course...when you are not guaranteed of the necessary indices for development, such as Power, the effects trickle down every household.

Our leaders must sit together,at the next AU Congress and reflect on some of the gains of the UNGA,and create interventionist programmes to make Africa "the beautiful bride."
