Some aggrieved hoodlums on Friday stoned the convoy of Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode in Oshodi area in protest against the takeover of their parks by the state government.

BreezeReporters gathered that Mr. Ambode at about 3pm on Friday, visited the area to inspect the Oshodi rail terminal construction but was resisted by the angry mob who stoned his convoy.

“Governor Ambode has been sneaking to inspect the oshodi rail terminal construction, but around 3pm yesterday the Governor showed up with a light escort to inspect and see progress of the work, only to be stoned by hoodlums, an eyewitness told BreezeReporters.

The hoodlums, according to the eyewitness, were chanting; “Ambode Ole ole (Ambode thief thief).

The governor was forced to abandon his planned inspection of the project following heavy resistance from the hoodlums.

Ambode was later whisked away from the scene by his security aides.

The protesters who are popularly known as ‘Agberos’ also forced staff of Planet Project, the construction company handling the project to leave site.

The hoodlums were said to be protesting the prohibition of market women on the road, takeover of their bus park and that Mr. Ambode allegedly made tax compulsory.

One of the engineers told BreezeReporters on the condition of anonymity that they couldn’t work on the site after the attack on the Governor.

According to the engineer, “We (contruction workers) are afraid these area boys might attack us. They are not happy with the construction going on here”.

The engineer noted that most of his colleagues had to pull off their safety jacket and diguise as passersby for fear of being attacked.

Meanwhile, BreezeReporters has reliably gathered that by 8am on Saturday, Policemen arrived the area with at least five vans.

The presence of policemen around the construction premises is ostensibly to prevent the hoodlums from distrupting the project.

A mild drama ensued this morning as hoodlums prevented Policemen from parking their vans at their garage.
