I think I may take my life

I am 29, a Nigerian from South-South and I have been on Nairaland for more than four years now; my profile can prove that.

I fought my way through the university and made sure I graduated with the best grade. I never failed a single course all through my time in the university, despite the fact I fended for myself.

I graduated since 2015 and following the grades I had, my CGPA is around 4.1- 4.3 (Second Class Upper).

I left school with the hope that I could struggle, clear my debts in school, do my clearance and go for service. But ever since that time till this moment, I have not saved a dime, rather I'm so much in debt.

I struggled and naively invested on an MLM business introduced by a fellow Nairalander last year and the entire N50,000 was swindled. I had to start again. I was teaching in a Secondary School, but the man could not pay up my salary. By month end, the highest cash the man ever paid once was N5,000 out of N25,000 salary. The rest was paid N1,000, N500 and so on.

I stopped working there last July and hunted for a job for the whole of August. I couldn't apply as a graduate since I still have not collected my result and served. The other menial jobs I get, pay less than N15,000 monthly.

I finally got a job at a sport bet shop as a cashier which I Started on the 7th of September. Just today, I made a mistake of playing a game of N200 for N20,000 and the customer lost the bet.

I'm owing a neighbour N28,000 and he wants my apartment in place of it. My salary was suppose to be N20,000, now I can't go to work and will lose my one room apartment by month end.

I feel life is unfair to me and I may end.

I don't just need a job or money, I need a Psychiatrist to talk to because I am losing it.

Help me Nairalanders, please.

I used to have a silly belief that I was an Atheist. Seeing how things went, I decided to embrace and believe in God.
Join a church, and I have been faithful. But it just isn't working.

Dear Op, you said you joined church when you lost all hope and I believe you are only hoping on God for breakthrough because you no get choice. You are fooling yourself, God knows why you are hanging around him. You better start thanking God that you have a degree, you are alive, you are healthy and for every other thing he has done for you.

Also that 20,000 naira mistake for you made for a 200 naira bet, I don't believe you. I think you decided to take a gamble believing that if you win, its your breakthrough to wealth and you thought it was worth the risk. Even if it was a mistake, why weren't you careful.

Anyway, welcome to adulthood. Life is not fair.

Thank you, even though you sound judgemental. I couldn't have begin a gamble with N20,000 though. I worked with a Lebanese sport bets and casino shop, known as R&S (didn't want to mention names) the POS used there are touch screen and very sleek. Highly prone to committing one to errors.

I told my story, whether you believe it or not, it remains the truth Sir.

And it is true I'm hanging around God because I really need him. Who isn't?

You need to start improving yourself, first by changing your mentality. You have to decide to be happy, it is something you owe yourself. After that, think positively, take life as place you will succeed in. Throw away the mindset of suicide and failure, it can kill you faster. You are not the way you are because you thought yourself an atheist or theist, God doesn't do that way

After setting up your emotions, visit the business section of nairaland. Stay there for a week and you will see how others hustle. When I joined that section, things changed. From making 80k/month to 200k/month.

We should not just run to God or love Him when we have problems. In fact, our problems should renew our love for God and strengthen our desire for Him.

Like TB Joshua's sermon, he added that "People allow their situation to rule them, and for them, when there's no food on the table, Jesus is cursed, but when there is food, Jesus be blessed"

I'm really in deep pity. It also takes courage to bring this up in a forum like nairaland in which OP still begs for his thread to be moved to FP.

OP, no condition is permanent. Do not make your situation to rule you and more importantly, this is your time to be close to God.

Life is not cruel bro, that man is cruel. There is a saying that guns do not kill, it is humans who kill with guns. Life itself is sweet, it is just the wickedness of people that makes it hard. So just try to look beyond the cruelty of those people and move on. Hard work pays, being smart pays even better.
