The grave of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu's cousin (Adaku Odemelam) is getting set ahead of her burial today. The lady was among the victims killed during the military invasion in Umuahia, Abia state. She was allegedly hit by a stray bullet during shootout by soldiers on 14th of September 2017.

Her grave is being dug near the residence of the IPOB leader at Afaraukwu in Abia state. May her soul rest in peace...

The law does not work on assumptions. If Nnamdi Kanu said he he will burn Nigeria down, the government has no right to invade his house until there is credible proof that he is preparing to carry out his threat or is already carrying it out.

To make a prediction that Nnamdi Kanu will definitely carry out his threat and invade his house with the Nigerian Army is wrong on two counts

1) The Army has no legal right to invade a persons house over a criminal matter. This is the constitutional role of the police

2) To criminalise a person before they actually commit a crime just because of mere assumption is terrible.

People are so predictable or maybe it is just me that's becoming a laureate in this human psychology business. I was expecting someone to say this. That is to–in a fit of over-zealous sentimentality–call the deceased a 'martyr'.

Except that she is not a martyr. Not even remotely so. She is only a victim; an unfortunate casaulty of a war – and that is because her death was needless, and I would also say—at the risk of seeming insensitive–purposeless.

The woman I'm sure did not think the Biafra cause to be worth her life, so why dragoon martyrdom on someone who probably never asked to be a martyr?
That bullet was meant for Nnamdi Kanu, not the poor woman. I wonder whether these leaders feel the slightest compunction knowing fully well that their actions portend ghastly consequences for their supporters. My educated guess is that they don't. I only wish the sheeple–the blind hierophants who are more Catholic than the Pope and more Moslem than Mohammed–would sooner come to terms with that.

In as much as I would love to share your optimism, I really do think Adaku's death was in vain.
