Yoruba Legacy Forum changes name

THE Yoruba Legacy Forum has held its inaugural meeting at Ikenne, Ogun State, under the chairmanship of Chief (Mrs.) H.I.D. Awolowo.

At the meeting, the forum changed its name to Egbe Isokan Yoruba, which translates to Yoruba Unity Forum.

The forum welcomed President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua back into the country and urged that steps be taken to rectify the anomaly of having a President and an acting President simultaneously.

It stressed that if the President is fit, he should resume his duties at once but that "if he is incapacitated, he should be so declared and appropriate constitutional steps taken to have power transferred to his deputy".

The forum said the current attempt by some people to use the President's ill-health and sudden return to the country to destablise the nation "is most unpatriotic and exceedingly self-centered and must not be tolerated".

It called for an end to the recurrent crisis in Plateau State where it said 200 Yoruba lost their lives alongside other innocent Nigerians in the latest bloodbath in Jos.

The forum also asked South-West legislators and other public officials in Abuja to form a group for the protection of Yoruba interest.

Chief Mrs H.I.D is like 150 years old. Isn't she senile already, some crooks are hiding behind her relationship with Awolowo, trying to defraud us all.

U can only change the cloth on the man's body. U can never change the heart of man.
Thus, Name change without heart renewal is useless.

They should focus on repositioning the region first instead of chasing shadows. It's just a shame they have been able to manipulate Awolowo's wife for a cause doomed to fail due to its irrelevance in the state things are.
