Luke 11:35 Make sure that the light you think you have is not actually darkness.(NLT)
Matthew 6:23 But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! (KJV)

As children of God, we ought to be the light of this world.

The lord said that:
Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Matthew 5:15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

And the lord desires that:
Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

God created us to be the light shinning into the darkness of this world and to bring out God colours every where we go.

How do we shine the light?
*Through our good deeds.
*Through obeying God's word and doing His will.
*Through living a perfect life and a righteous life.
*Exhibition of Godly characters.
*And so much more.

Now that you know that you ought to be the light. Are you truly the light God created you to be?

This is the point to examine yourself carefully and be sure that the light you think you have is not actually darkness.

Two powers are operating in this world and they are:
•power of darkness (Satan)
•power of light (God)

The most dangerous position is for someone to think he/she has the light of God, but on the contrary, such a person is in darkness because he or she is exhibiting characters associated with darkness.

Characteristics of light:

Righteousness, faithfulness, forebearing, gentleness, truthfulness, kindness, humility,goodness, peaceful,loving, patient,hospitality,compassionate,forgiving,fairness,honesty,gratitude, generosity,obedient, contentment,respectful, holiness,diligence,discipline,endurance,harmless,integrity,meekness/ merciful,submissive,sincerity,tolerant,self-control and many more.

Characteristics of darkness:

unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness,intolerant maliciousness,full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity,unloving whisperers,Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, covenant breakers, implacable, unmerciful, unforgiving,inhospitable, undisciplined, ungenerous, unfair and many others.

Check out the two categories above carefully and know where you stand.

The most painful part of it is that a lot of people claim to be followers and lovers of Jesus Christ, yet, they don't behave like him by exhibiting the characteristics of light. They don't want to be associated with Satan, yet, they behave like him by exhibiting the characteristics of darkness.

Critically examine yourself today.
"If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!"
