JAMB Reveals Those Who Will Get Admission In 2017/2018 Session by Mrrationalshop1: 8:44am On Sep 22, 2017
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Thursday, said only candidates who meet the O’ level and A’ level requirements and other criteria set by institutions would be offered admission in 2017/2018.
‎JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, stated this at a Training and Sensitization Forum on Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) for admission offers, candidates and stakeholders on in Abuja.

Prof. Oloyede said: “Scoring higher than the cut-off mark does not guarantee admission but makes the candidate eligible for admission consideration. It is not UTME that qualifies the person. It is O level, A level that qualifies a person for admission.
“That is why you can go from here to UK, you can go to Ghana, Uganda, Republic of Benin, nobody ask you of your UTME, they ask for your O level because by law it is the school cert that qualifies you not JAMB,” he said.

He also warned that JAMB will not tolerate illegal admissions by any higher institution.
The body also stated that students admitted illegally won’t be regularised anymore.
“We know that we have abused the process. What we have been doing is to send N5,000 each to JAMB in the name of regularization without capturing their picture, without capturing anything. You pay N5,000 and then they are regularized.
“We have not stopped to do backlog but from 2016 upward we will not allow anybody to do backdoor admission. Anybody that is not properly admitted cannot benefit from regularization.

“You cannot admit anybody under the table. Let us know your problem and let us collectively solve the problem so that you do not need to do such thing.
“We don’t have accurate data because what we have on record is different from real life. We cannot continue to do that. We will protest to the whole world that we have 500 students in our institutions but in reality they are about 1 million but 500,000 thousand have been admitted illegally,” Oloyede remarked.

Being Educated doesn't mean you get a job in Nigeria, only for the few

It's better you study courses that will make you work for yourself like computer science

Which kin gbege be dis one now ehn?
Take one step forward and then slip backwards.

Why does jamb think it can fix everything wrong with admission in one year?

Of what benefit will this new policy be to my friend Sodiq who has been sitting for jamb for 4 years now with a "C-parallel" waec certificate he got in 2013?

These things ought to be a gradual process na, let the schools conduct their exams and send the list of those who passed to ur central admission station or what u call it,,, while you make plans and preparations to phase out the process, creating awareness about the new plans which would be implemented in an agreed time.

This is a very welcome development.

Only those who have been used to "runs" will not like this.

If you don't understand I'll let you in on what this does.

With the new "CAPS" it will be difficult for even a governor to bring candidates who have not excelled into the university.

Everyday Jamb wahala,me my suggestion is this, to solve the admission problem let the following be done:convert all polytechnics to colleges, then upgrade all colleges to first degree only awarding status while the universities maintain their status quo, change NUC to NUCC(national university n colleges commission),divide the country into groups consisting of a state from each geopolitical zone to make a group e.g Lagos, ebonyi, bayelsa,Benue, gombe, kebbi.let students from states in the same group apply directly to any college or university in their group using their O'level n pass the entrance exam to continue.let all certificate above school cert n below first degree be of two or three years duration n call diplomas n schools awarding such be known as HIGH schools.let PGD to be awarded by universities only n of one year intensive academic exercise only without project but practicals where necessary like in education.I believe this will help a lot in solving the perennial admission problems in Nigeria.
