In an apparent rebuff of President Trump, Iran has gone ahead in testing a new ballistic missile reportedly capable of carrying multiple warheads after its successful unveiling on Friday at a military parade in Tehran.

According to Press TV, the missile, known as the Khorramshahr, has a range of 1,250 miles (2,000km) and can carry multiple warheads.

“The Khorramshahr missile launched from an unknown location has become smaller in size and more tactical and it will be operational in the near future,” the broadcaster reported.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani who also spoke stated that Tehran would press ahead with strengthening its missile capabilities and military defenses.

“We will promote our defensive and military power as much as we deem necessary,” Rouhani said. “We seek no one’s permission to defend our land.” He said

“Whether you like it or not we are going to help Syria, Yemen and Palestine, and we will strengthen our missiles.” He further added.

During the just concluded United Nations session, President Trump had lambasted the nation of Iran, especially on the agreement entered by the previous administration with Iran describing it as “the worst deal ever”.
