According to the National Kidney Foundation spokeswoman, her action was regarded as “huge” for the 123,000 Americans who were presently on the waiting list for a lifesaving organ transplant. About 100,000 of them need a kidney.

It has been reported that People who get a kidney transplant from a living donor survive, on average, 10 to 15 years longer than if they received the organ from a deceased donor. Every day 12 people die waiting for a kidney, the non-profit said.

“Living donation is what every patient on the wait list hopes for,” the Foundation spokeswoman Julie Kimbrough revealed to the Post news media. “By shining such a bright light on it, our hope certainly is that more people will consider it, once they understand that you can live with just one kidney, once they understand that you can live a normal, healthy live after donation, and once they understand how it can completely change another person’s life.” She further said.

Selena Gomez first began her career starring in the children’s television series Barney & Friends. She found fame for her lead role of Alex Russo in the Disney Channel series Wizards of Waverly Place (2007–2012).
