Many take for granted the use of the tongue not knowing it has the power to heal and the power to destroy. So many lives today have been destroyed due to its wrong use. If we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way. We can make a large horse go wherever we want by means of a small bit in its mouth. And a small rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot chooses to go, even though the winds are strong. In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. A tiny spark can set a great forest on fire and the tongue is a flame of fire.

It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself. People can tame all kinds of animals, birds, reptiles, and fish, but no one can tame the tongue. It is restless and evil, full of deadly poison. Sometimes it praises our Lord and father, and sometimes it curses those who have been made in the image of God. And so, blessing and cursing come pouring out of the same mouth but you can choose which you want; to bless or to curse? There's power in the tongue of man, so watch what you say with it. It's one of the smallest parts of the human body, yet the deadliest.

Can be used to taste your food

God tells us in His Word that the tongue has incredible power. We can use our tongue to bring blessings and life or curses and death. The saying "sticks and stones can break my bones but words will never hurt me" is simply not true. Our tongues can be the most difficult thing to control and leave us with great regret if we use our words to hurt. There is hope! The Bible tells us that with the help of the Holy Spirit we can have power and control over our tongue.scriptures backing of the use of the tongue include
1.Col 4:6 "6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone."
2.Eph 4:29 "29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."
3.Matthew 15:11 "11 What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.”13 keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies.

5. Prov 18:20-21 "
"From the fruit of their mouth a person’s stomach is filled; with the harvest of their lips they are satisfied.
The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing. Truthful lips endure forever, but a lying tongue lasts only a moment.

For, "THE ONE WHO DESIRES LIFE, TO LOVE AND SEE GOOD DAYS, MUST KEEP HIS TONGUE FROM EVIL AND HIS LIPS FROM SPEAKING DECEIT.
