Champions League Return! Key Fixtures, Preview, Stats And Prediction by truegossip(f): 12:44pm On Sep 26, 2017
Borrusia Dortmund will be hosting Real Madrid in day 2 of Champions league tonight and a host of other interesting fixtures to be played. Liverpool and Manchester United travel to Russia to take on Spartak Moscow and CSKA Moscow respectively. Manchester City will hope to continue their fine run when they host Ukraine side Shakhtar Donesk. Tottenham will play away to Apoel on Tuesday while Chelsea will face a tough encounter when they visit Atletico Madrid on Wednesday.

So far, its been a good outing for the Premier League side in the Champions League this season, with only Liverpool dropping point in match day 1 against Sevilla, other English teams win big. This week, we can expect the run to continue but a fixture at Atletico Madrid will mean Chelsea will have to do an extra ordinary if they are to come home with the maximum points. Last time, there were in scintillating form, destroying Qarabaq 6-0, a game where Morata failed to see the back of the net before scoring a hat trick against Stoke in EPL.

Lets look at the fixtures

APOEL vs Tottenham

Tottenham have already pulled a surprise after beating Dortmund 3-1 in the opening day of the Champions League. They have constantly failed in Europe after gaining ground in consistent qualification spots in the Premier League. Tottenham enjoyed their best run in league for the first time in so many years last season but had a very poor run in Europe having being dumped out of the group stage and failed to progress in Europa round of 16.

Expectations are high within fans that Tottenham will go far this season.

Tottenham have gone 4 consecutive matches without a draw. Bet 12

Real Madrid vs Dortmund

This fixture is has become a UEFA tradition, having only not met in just one season (2015) since 2012. Both teams have either been drawn in the group or knock out stage. Last season, they were drawn in same group and both legs ended 2-2. Dortmund are firing in Bundesliga having scored 14 goals in their last 3 games but Real Madrid are really struggling for form in La Liga having won just 3 in their last 6 La Liga games. They recently lost at home to Betis but bounced back against Alaves last weekend. Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal drought in La Liga is definitely not affecting his Champions League form and is expected to perform against Dortmund

Dortmund have failed to win any of their last 3 matches.

Manchester City vs Shakhter Donesk

Guardiola’s men are in blistering form right at the moment and are expected to continue their fine goal scoring run when they meet the Ukrainian side on Tuesday night. Shakhter are a strong side in Ukraine and can be very stubborn in Europe. The team comprising majorly of Brazilian talents have proven to be a regular in the competition and are likely to cause City some problems.

Manchester City have gone 3 consecutive matches without a draw.

Spartak Moscow vs Liverpool

Things are not particularly gelling for the Merseysiders right at the moment, although, they were able to manage a 3-2 win over Leicester over the weekend. They were beaten by same Leicester in Carabao Cup during last week and would be under pressure to get their first win in UCL after first match draw against Sevilla. From records, Liverpool have met Spartak once before in 2002 and they won both legs with huge margin. Even though this is 2017, Liverpool are expected to beat Spartak

Liverpool are undefeated in their last 5 matches.

Just days after completing the re-signing of wantaway Diego Costa, Ahtletico Madrid will be hosting Chelsea in one of the most anticipated match of the week. Both teams have met on two occasions in the Champions League, the third being The Super Cup and it had been a close encounter. Chelsea and Atl Madrid have won once and drawn twice, but Atleico Madrid came on top in the Super Cup beating Chelsea 4-1 in 2012. We expect a close encounter and a possible draw from the match.
