4 Things We Learnt In The Champions League This Week. by Nobody: 1:50pm On Sep 28, 2017
It's UEFA Champions League matchday 2 and the scores and intrigues are in. Though there are one or two shocking results, most of the results were expected. In this thread, I will discuss some of the things that we learnt on matchday 2 of the UEFA Champions League.

1) English Clubs Are Dominant

Four of the five Premiership clubs in the competition this season are dominant on matchday 2 as they all won their matches with relative ease, save for Chelsea who won Atletico Madrid from Spain, in Spain, 1 - 2 after benefiting from Batshuayi's ninetieth minute goal, after Morata provided the team with the first goal. Tottenham Hotspur won their own match with a 0 - 3 scoreline, Manchester City won theirs with a 2 - 0 scoreline, and Manchester United won theirs with a 1 - 4 scoreline. Though these teams, except Chelsea, played minnows, it is a good thing that they won emphatically. The only English team that is not dominant in the Champions League is unsurprisingly Liverpool that many have tagged "Loserpool" for a reason; they played a 1 - 1 draw against Spartak Moscow, a relatively average team.

2) Spanish Teams Are Dominant Too

English teams will surely come up against Spanish teams eventually and these meetings will surely be fascinating as the Spanish teams in the competition are super strong and tactical. Real Madrid won 1 - 3 against a strong Dortmund team, Barcelona won 0 - 1 in Lisborn against a strong Sporting CP team, Seville won 3 - 0 against Maribor, though Atletico Madrid had a tough time Against Chelsea as they lost by a 1 - 2 scoreline.

3) PSG Can't Be Considered Favourites Just Yet

Though PSG might have spent the money and acquired Neymar, and Mbappe, and though PSG won Bayern Munich 3 - 0 in Paris des Princes, they can't be considered Champions League favourites yet since they played against a very weak Bayern Munich team. Note that Bayern Munich are third in Bundesliga after 6 matches as they have won 4, drawn 1, and lost 1. The Bayern Munich we all knew was better than this. So just yet, Beating Bayern Munich does not make PSG one of the favourites yet.

4) Liverpool Are Also Runs

Though Liverpool are back to their favourite competition after a long time on the sidelines, on the evidence of current form of mixed results, they are not formidable and therefore are one of the minnows as they cannot be held in the same breath as Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, even Dortmund. Liverpool are so poor that they may have a really difficult time against Basel. Sorry Liverpool fans.
