Driving at night can be difficult especially in a country like Nigeria where you don’t have street lights on every road. Below are some tips that can improve your driving at night.
1. Always dim your dashboard light when driving at night, also switch off the reading lights. Always have in mind that dashboard light and reading lights can distort your forward vision, furthermore more keeping your dashboard light dim increases your vision.
2. Try as much as possible to keep your eyes moving while driving. Do not focus on a point, because this causes your eyes to become tired because you are trying to concentrate more.
3. Keep enough distance between you and the vehicle in front. Note that night driving is challenging to other motorists . In a case when the driver did not take notice of a bad spot until he is very close, he/she slams on the brakes, eventually if you give enough following distance you will have enough distance to stop without hitting d vehicle in front.
Finally make sure you take a nap if you feel tired before hitting on the road

4. When driving on very wide highways at night (eg Lagos ibadan expressway, the completed areas from sagamu interchange to redeemed), u might find out ur headlamp can hardly see anything because the road is so wide; if u can't see the road barrier or divider, pls slow down to avoid driving into a ditch or the barrier when road is curved. If government cannot put streetlights on the highway they should at least put reflectors on the roads, it is cheaper and can prevent lots of road accidents at night.
