Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers

1. Social crusader and maverick entertainer, Charles Oputa, otherwise known as Charly Boy, has dragged the FCT Police command before the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja over harassment meted out on him and members of OurMumuDonDo and Concerned Nigerians during the resume or resign protests.
Oputa is seeking a N500m redress for the infringement of his fundamental rights.

2. The naira recorded a marginal gain on Wednesday, closing at 363 per United States dollar.
The local currency had closed at 364/dollar on Tuesday, up from 365/dollar recorded on Friday.

3. The Senate on Wednesday launched an investigation into the corruption allegations against the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.

The decision was taken after Senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial district, Hamman Misau informed the Upper Legislative Chamber on the attack he suffered from the Nigeria police after he accused the IGP of diverting huge sums of money.

4. Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has accused President Muhammadu Buhari and his cabal, of stealing funds from the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), to fund his 2019 presidential campaign.

Fani-Kayode in a tweet on Wednesday evening alleged that Ibe Kachikwu does not appreciate the fact that to Buhari and his tiny cabal of ethnic supremacists pillaging 26 billion USD from the Northern (sorry “Nigerian”) National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is nothing.

5. The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions on Wednesday issued an arrest warrant against the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu.
He is to be brought before the committee on November 7 to answer questions in connection with a petition by the wife of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Patience.

6. The Central Bank of Nigeria has recovered over N50bn excess charges imposed by banks on their customers.

7. No fewer than 17 persons lost their lives after a boat ferrying around 60 passengers capsized on River Niger in Kebbi State.

The National Emergency Management (NEMA) said on Wednesday that the incident occurred after the boat smashed into a tree trunk in the rain-swollen River Niger.

8. The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that nothing will stop the state governor, Nyesom Wike from winning his re-election bid in 2019.
