Customs Intercepts 11 Vehicles Smuggled Into The Country by nghubs1(m): 1:56pm On Oct 05, 2017
The Nigerian Customs Services has confiscated 11 vehicles among other items smuggled into the country.

Other items intercepted included 4,227 bags of foreign
parboiled rice, frozen poultry products, vegetable oil, Indian Hemp, medicaments, used tyres, scrap metals, wet blue, electric cables, unprocessed wood, bales of used clothing and shoes.

A statement by Nigerian Customs reveals import duties were not paid for the confiscated items.

The statement read

"The Nigeria Customs Service have continue to clampdown on unrepentant smugglers, as Operatives of the Federal Operations Unit gave a score card of its activities from 29th of August - 3rd of October 2017.

"The seized items include: 11 used vehicles, 4,227 bags of foreign parboiled rice, frozen poultry products, vegetable oil, Indian Hemp, medicaments, used tyres, scrap metals, wet blue, electric cables, unprocessed wood, bales of used clothing and shoes respectively with a duty paid value (DPV) of Three Hundred and Fifty Six Million, Two Hundred and Five Thousand, Fifty Naira, Seventy Eight kobo (N 356,205,050.78) only."

This is the story of a confused business man. How can you spend so much money importing stuffs and then you cannot afford to the duty on it and you will sell to your customers at regular price. If you cannot afford Nigerian port duty, why not ship them through Benin port and pay lesser duty while bringing them through them Seme border?
