Why do Nigerians go to church? This question has become necessary due to the influx of people into the church today. Nigerians are desperados when it comes to pursuit for material wealth thus the ‘’mad’’ rush into church. Because people have seen that the easiest way to make money is to open a church, Nigeria streets are now littered with churches, ministries and prayer houses that are deceiving people. Lets cast our mind back in the 70s and early 80s when the church preached sound word of salvation devoid of this money, money thing they preach now. Though the churches were few then, yet the crime rate wasn’t anything near the rate at which we are experiencing it now that we have 1000 times more churches. The society enjoyed much peace, discipline and fear of God in those days. And I ask, where were all this so called present day pastors all these years that the church was seen as not a place for people to prosper? This is not to say that it is bad to prosper. By God’s grace I am a beneficiary of prosperity in Jesus Christ but that is not the main thing. The main thing according to the bible is “seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things (prosperity inclusive) shall be added unto you but the present day pastors are turning it the other way round. That’s why 99.9 percent of their sermon dwells on prosperity, sowing seed, tithe and offering, bla, bla.bla, (this things are good and biblical too)While 1 percent is for the message of salvation which in most cases is not delivered in its entirety. Born again is beyond raising your hand and praying after the pastor. In the scriptures the disciples sent out by Jesus christ on evangelism came back with joy telling him how they healed people and cast demons out of people in his name and Jesus told them that they shouldn’t rejoice over this but that they should rejoice more on the fact that their names are written in the book of life in heaven. Today rather than give more of the message that will make people think of where they will spend their eternity, repent and have their names written in the book of life, these pastors give them messages that ordinarily cant make them think about life after here. Yet the bible says, what shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loose his own soul. The soul is more important to God than every other thing. Heaven and Hell is real and the earlier the pastors begin to drive this message into the heart of the congregation along with that of prosperity and tithe and offering, the better for them. If they (pastors) like, let them continue to panel beat the word of God in a way that it will suit them and their congregation, at the end of our stay here on earth God will still judge everyone according to his (God’s) own interpretation of his word and not according to your pastor’s interpretation.
It doesn’t matter how much wealth you acquired on earth, How much seed you sowed in the church, how much money , cars or houses you gave to your pastor, except a man be born again (not the abracadabra we see in most churches today), he cannot see the kingdom of God. Most Nigerians are worshipping God today not because of who he is but because of the material wealth which their pastors always hammered on the pulpit they will gain from God. Others, especially the single ladies go to church mainly to look for husbands. Some others go to church because the pastor allows them to dress anyhow, behave anyhow, make money anyhow, treat people anyhow and still answer born again. That’s why the society is decaying so fast in the face of the so called millions of born again we have in Nigeria today. And I ask, will heaven be so cheap? You live your life anyhow and at the end of the day God says to you, welcome thou good and faithful servant, just like that? No way. I pray God to sanitize his church this last days and expose these wolves in sheep clothen who are giving their members half baked word of God. Millions of souls are streaming down to hell and needs the word of truth. The truth shall set us free, set Nigeria free and set the whole world free.

Not all nigerians and nigerian pastors are like that, and each human being will have to face judgement and be judge on what they have done. So do all you can to preach the gospel so everyone will praise our father in heaven wink

yes humans face judgement when they die. it is in the bible read -Hebrews 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Bible is God's word and i believe it entirely. Hope you aiint among those who doubts the bible? if you are, pls have a change of heart because God is greater than man. Even if the whole world chooses not to believe God's word, that still deosnt change the fact that his words are true. God has nothing to loose if we choose not to believe him but we have everything to loose if we choose not to believe him. Pls think about eternity. spending a 100 years or more on earth when compared to eternity is as insignificant as a drop of water in an ocean. God will help u.

The purpose of our worship is to see the face of God. Worship is for God! He is the giver and the receiver of worship.
