The heinous crime came on the heels of the attack yesterday, on the secretariat of Ogun State Parallel Executive of PDP in Abeokuta, the state capital, which was vandalised by another faction of the party celebrating the victory of the state Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, at the Appeal Court, yesterday in Ibadan.

Bashiru, according to an eye-witness account, met his untimely death early yesterday, after he was called out by his assailants who allegedly shot him in the presence of his wife who also sustained injuries.

Checks by THISDAY revealed that the town had been boiling over enforcement of a Supreme Court Judgment on a parcel of land in the town.

It could not be confirmed if Bashiru's murder was connected with the land tussle which the Matanmi Family had been adjudged by the Supreme Court as the rightful owner.

Bashiru who was said to have been shot in the chest and head, was said to have died on the spot, even as attempts were said to have been made to save him.Ogun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, who confirmed the incident, said the Command had deployed both regular policemen and detectives to the town.‘’I can confirm to you that only one person was killed yesterday and the Police had moved to the town to ensure security of lives and property," the PPRO said.
