Speaking on the club’s project for the 2017/2018 Rotary year, the new president lamented the decadence in the education sector, saying some students can speak but are unable to write good English.

Earlier, the guest speaker, Prof Chris Mustapha Nwaokobia, said now is the time everyone must challenge our planet to do right, calling for global peace and brotherhood that our universe so badly craves.

Speaking on the topic – Enforcing the brotherhood of man: The Rotary Four-Way Test As Key, Nwaokobia said, “there is no better time to revisit the ROTARY FOUR-WAY TEST than now, noting that, “If the Rotary Movement were a religious order, in the four-way test, it has a holy writ.

The Speaker said, “I have studied how the 24words scripted by Rotn. Herbert J. Taylor in the early 1930s became a moral compass, a behavioral testament, a script for proper conduct and character, and a sort of ethical yardstick, not only for Rotarians worldwide, but for all those who seek the beloved community.

“Today our planet appears too troubled to look the way of the inimitable words bequeathed to humankind by J Taylor through the Rotary Movement, whose copyright it is. I say however, that now is the time to sound these words from the mountain top, we must sing them in the valley, we must teach them everywhere, we must preach them in the places of worship, and we must challenge our planet to do right, for in them are the flawless fountains of brotherhood, he said.

Professor Nwaokobia in his speech applied the four-way test seriatim to the topic of today and concluded by urging everyone to hold on to the four-way test, noting that therein are salient issues and binding tissues for the beautiful universe we crave.
