The Lagos State Government says it plans to construct multilayer car parks in strategic locations across the state as part of the traffic management and transport sector reforms.

The Commissioner for Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Ade Akinsanya, in a statement on Wednesday said the multilayer car parks would be constructed within 12 months.
The commissioner, who stated that the government was open to partnership with interested investors, said the move to construct the multilayer car parks was a prelude to the enactment of revised Parking Authority Law.

He added that the initiative would rid the state of indiscriminate parking by roadsides, which had been contributing to gridlock.

He said, “The Lagos State Government is desirous of having multilayer car parks across the state in the next 12 months. This is in consonance with the government’s proposed traffic management and transport sector reforms and as a prelude to the enactment of the State’s revised Parking Authority Law.

“Interested investors with either private land or proposed government land suitable for the construction of multilayer car parks and auxiliary structures are requested to submit proposals for the approval for construction of the parks in any of the Ikoyi, Ikeja, Victoria Island, Badore, Ajah, Lekki Phase 1, Ipaja, Yaba,Ikorodu, Mushin, Surulere, Festac Town and Lagos Island areas.”
