Plateau State Police Command has said the Fulanis who invaded Dogon Nahawa village on Sunday and massacred hundreds of persons including women and children were paid to do so.
Acting Commissioner of Police of the state command, Ikechukwu Aduba told journalists yesterday that while some were paid by persons yet to be identified, others volunteered to join in the slaughter.

According to him, so far they are yet to reveal their chief sponsors but had confessed they were on revenge mission.
He said 200 suspects have so far been arrested. 49 Fulanis were arrested immediately after the incident and in their statements owned up to carrying out the invasion and killings in Dogo Nahawa, Zot, Rasat and Kutgot, the police boss said.
The second category made up of some 151 persons, he said, were arrested at Mangu and other surrounding villages for unlawful possession of prohibited firearms and unlawful assembly. According to him, the men took the laws into their hands by taking up arms in apparent defence of their communities against any possible attack.
