Aha! I've finally cleared up the confusion. I remember that this group was called Skyy Port. That's the name that is in my memory. But nobody online calls them Skyy Port. They are called Skyy. So where did I get the name Skyy Port from?

Well, Skyy Port is actually the name of this album.

Words can't describe how much I love this song.

(I think they also came to Nigeria).

Skyy - Here's To You (1980).

More "car music". In fact the audio casette was in the car until 1988 and I still saw it in the house as recently as 1993. It was blue.

They played this song on the two occasions that they came to Nigeria (c1982 and 1991). Nigerians kept asking them about James Taylor when they came in 1991, but he had left the group by that time.

This was one of my favourite songs when it was released and I'm sad that I can't find the original version (there are so many remixes on YouTube).

Aha!

It sounds like VHS, so the audio quality isn't perfect.

This version of this song was a constant feature at all my parties. I can't have a party and not play this song. The vinyl record looked exactly like the one in the video.

There was once a time in Nigeria that power outages didn't last long. Usually they would restore electricity within two hours.

If there was a power outage and it lasted for 6 hours or more then it meant that there was most likely a fault somewhere. We would turn on the radio and they would announce that there was a fault, tell us what the fault was and tell us when electricity would be restored. And they usually restored the power at the exact time that they said they would.

I remember listening to Radio Nigeria until midnight or 12:30am on those days that there were blackouts and I remember the songs they played. This was one of them.

One day somebody asked what they were pushing and I couldn't answer him grin

One Way - Push (1980).

I can't believe that I forgot to include this great song earlier (that last "Nepa song" reminded me of it). This should have been one of the first songs that I posted.

This song was playing in my mind as I was reading this thread. I was surprised to see it.
Even though I am not 30 yet I am familiar with most of the foreign songs. Your knowledge of good music is rare. You should start a blog or a radio show to pass on this knowledge.

This song was partially inspired by Marvin Gaye's Got To Give It Up which I've already posted.

I've just realised that I committed another sin. I ommitted a foreign band in the disco section and a Nigerian group in the boogie section.

Time to rectify that.

I don't know how I forgot to post this earlier. This song was mixed with Bunny Mack's Let Me Love You on a tape I had. So I wonder why I forgot to post it when I posted Let Me Love You.

I had the extended version on that tape. It had a lovely instrumental section in the middle.

My dad went to Moscow for the Olympics in 1980 and there were two fantastic things about that. First, I was free for almost a whole month! Secondly, he came back with many amazing gifts.

One of the things he came back with was an album of Russian rock songs and one of the songs on that album was a cover of this song (in Russian).

So here's the original and then the Russian version.

Boney M - Never Change Lovers In The Middle Of The Night (1978).

Thank you, thank you, thank you. You've reminded me to post 4 songs that are permanently linked in my mind. I'm not sure which of the songs is my favourite. In fact they are all my favourite. Ishilove, come and listen to great music.

You've also tempted me to post some absolutely wonderful jazz songs, but I'll resist that temptation for now.
