Hmmmmm why are they apologizing? Seems Intel's Is truly the cash cow of all Atiku's investments. Why can't we do things the right way yet when karma catches up with us we start shouting marginalization, witch hunting etc.

Seems the impact of the withdrawal affected their income within a week that their shareholders held a meeting and decided to apologize to avoid more catastrophe

No doubt Intels is Mr Volpis and Atikus financial backbone for over 30 years ..that why I always laugh when people say Atiku stole money from govt , if you know how much Intel generates in a year then you will know he doesn't need to steal from govt

When the govt does the right thing tht removes money from a few Individuals, masses start shouting witch hunt

I tire for NIgerians

FIrst it was Ifeanyi Uba and AMCOM....and everyone shouted witch hunt.

Then it was Silverbird...and again witch hunt.

Nigerians...one minute they want govt to follow laws, then next minute they don't.

I was no Jona fan...but if he had not brought in TSA...we would have been broke...as in BROKE.

That is why things don't work well in Nigeria. Take Oando..which is suffering the effects of a bad loan that they took in 2013...and everyone is screaming politics.

You guys still don't get my point ...well about Oando I hope you know this same Mr Volpi provided most oof the funding used to make Oando what it is today and Oando is only suffering today because Wale Tinubu played a fast one on Mr Volpi but that's another story for another day

Atiku owns the company!! And how does buhari cutting off his contract make u a sensible person?

No...I get yer point.

You are making the argument that if TSA was not strictly enforced, companies would have some cash to play with....and that might help stimulate the economy.

Problem is, govt revenues have fallen (we lost $100bn in potential earnings when oil prices fell from $123 to $29 in 2014-16)....so govt has to raise money from alternative means...and one of those means is strict enforcement of rules guiding revenue collection.

It is either we do that...or we start implementing severe cuts, and rasing taxes to sky high levels (though that is inevitable anyway)

Catch 22 situation.

Throwback:

The TSA matter had been referenced from the start.

No firm or person is bigger than Nigerian laws or indispensable.

I have always maintained that if Intels felt wronged by NPA/FG, they should head to court.

Instead, those shareholders who are not politically inclined, have headed towards apology. While the politically inclined shareholder continue to display the mindset that they can disregard the laws when you have political sycophants drum up support.

TSA was never mentioned. TSA has been implemented since 2015, if intels has been defaulting why didn't buhari act since? Lemmi guess he n atiku were eating from same pot then, now that atiku wants to go solo he start probing him. Buhari is very corrupt!!!

Even the Atiku himself never said a word about the whole bruhaha, firstly the FG should have written a Memo to NPA directing it to mop up all funds with INTEL, if Intel refuses then terminate the contract. But the route they took by going to Intel directly to terminate the contract is why many termed it political, and how would anybody that has less than 17% shareholding ever get campaign funds from Intel. Atiku's source of income is still hidden

Mr Volpi is only bringing his survivalist instinct to play to save a company he has worked so hard for so please this apology is called a "survival apology " and is in no way an endorsement that the draconian witch hunting govt was right about its call on 100 percent TSA..As someone who runs a firm that has a lot of revenue sharing agreement with bigger partners I can tell you for free that only 100 percent that belongs to the TSA in this intels case is govts 72 percent .
oga keep quiet you have nothing to say , the article clearly indicates it's not a witch hunt simple but your hate and spite for Buhari won't let you think straight

The issue is not that Intels hasn't been paying into the TSA, they have been paying but only Paying 72 percent which is actually the govts share while they retain their own 28 percent but now the Buhari govt is saying Intels should pay the whole 100 percent into the TSA but this is morally and technically wrong because in actuality only govt earnings should go into the TSA and that's 72 percent ..Just Imagine the govt telling it's joint venture partners chevron who they have a 60:40 sharing agreement to pay the entire 100 percent earning for oil into the TSA ..But in reality Chevron only remits the govts 60 percent to her and keeps it's 40 percent..If this is not a witch hunt ask yourself why has the Govt not asked it's JV partners in the oil industry to do same
