Oftentimes we hear of stories of how, especially in the past (wouldn't know if such still happens now), alleged marine spirits and forces created challenges for construction teams building bridges across different bodies of waters.

There have been stories told of something being sacrificed in the process to appease the forces, or at sometimes, the marine forces themselves injuring or killing construction workers as a form of indirect sacrifice.

Does such really exist or is it just a myth? Let's take the Third Mainland bridge in Lagos as an example, there is hardly no day that one does not see broken down vehicles on the 11km bridge especially during peak periods of traffic. I travel often and does not observe the same number of breakdowns on the same kilometre stretch of other roads even with similar busyness.
Could these frequent breakdowns have a spiritual connection to it? Please contribute your opinions.

There is frequent breakdown of vehicles every where you just notice it more because you are on the bridge and the effect of the breakdown causes more traffic
