shinarlaura: Interestingly, I was in Douala that day at the train station waiting to take the train to Yaounde. I was to speak at a conference the next day and if you remember the rain had washed out a bridge on the main road connecting the two towns, and not being willing to try Camair-Co, I decided to take the train as the last option. I got there early, and bought a ticket, and we were there until the news finally filtered through around 4ish of the accident at Eseka. The whole place was crowded and the annoying thing was that the authorities did not at any time announce that there would be no train to Yaounde that day, so I spent a whole day at the damn train station. Most annoying. I ended up not getting to Yaounde that day or the next and was unable to give my presentation. 1 Like |

@Op, your redeemer liveth. Thank God for his goodness towards you. RIP to the dead. May we never witness such great tragedy again. Was the cause of the accident identified? This is very necessary to avoid a future occurrence. The Spanish train derailment that occurred two years ago was attributed to over-speeding and this prompted the authorities to install automatic speed breakers, which forces a speeding train to lose speed automatically to a safer speed level. 1 Like |

Re: How I Was Saved From A Train Accident That Killed 600 People - My Testimony by shinarlaura(f): 7:04pm On Oct 21, 2017 |
lozanni: Amen Yes it was caused by overloading. That particular day, around 2am, the road linking yaounde to Douala was divided into two (that still remains a mystery to what caused it), so almost everyone travelling that day was going for the train. Instead of the normal 8 coaches that the train normally carries, it went for 18 coaches coupled with the so much population. That was a black Friday In cameroon. 1 Like |

its cool to be appreciative, I see threads like this and I can't believe I survived three road crashes which claimed lives, but still didn't attribute my survival to Gods mercies,I just shrug it off, @op you were lucky and may his mercies continue to radiate over you...... 1 Like |
