Super Eagles goalkeeper trainer, Alloy Agu, has confirmed that Vincent Enyeama will return to the team.

The former Lille shot stopper unceremoniously retired from international football in 2015 after a fallout with then coach Sunday Oliseh.


But lately, rumours of him coming out of retirement has been on the front burner, particularly after the Eagles qualified for the 2018 Fifa World Cup in Russia.

According to Agu, who spoke with Brila.net, the former Enyimba goalie, who has over 100 caps for the Eagles, has been contacted but will not be granted an automatic slot in the team.

“It’s important for us to know that Nigerians want the best and safest hands at the world cup,” Agu said.

“We want to look around and give everybody the opportunity. It is good that Vincent has returned to fitness and is back with his club.

“We’ve been in touch with him. The Coach has spoken with him too but, Vincent must fight for his place. It will not be an automatic place for him or any other goalkeeper.”
