How To Choose The Best Tablet For You by Ugoeze2016: 4:08pm On Oct 23, 2017
This is the second part of our tablet series. In the first part, we showed you the five most important reasons why you need a tablet in 2017. We hope it was helpful. Today, we will be showing you the distinctive features of the three major tablet operating system (OS) in the market so as to ease your decision making. The decision is still left to you. We just want to give you a profound guide.

When you look up on Nigeria online shopping stores, you can get carried away by the array of fantastic tablets they offer. Big screens, great battery, good sounds and top camera quality are some of the things we want in a tablet. Interestingly, the operating system (OS) has more to do with a tablet than these hardware features. In one of our posts,we told you that software is more important than hardware. A tablet's OS is what defines the user interface which in turn determines the user experience and satisfaction.

There are three major tablet OS platforms – iOS, Android, and Windows. Here’s what you need to know:

iOS
Manufactured by Apple, iOS runs the iPad series from the first to the next. This platform is not open to other device manufacturers other than Apple. The OS is very easy to learn and use even by those who have never used an Apple product. There is a massive collection (over a million) of apps and games in the virtual store which implies that you have more than enough contents to keep you busy. The iOS is however limited in use. It is not built for ultimate productivity. With the release of Microsoft Office for iPad, iOS has looked more productivity-focused in recent times. This move has made the OS adopted by those who could do with little word processing and PowerPoint capability.

Android
If you use an Android smartphone, you will find it easy using an Android tablet – there isn’t much difference in them. One of the good points of Android OS is that some Android tablets have cellular functions, meaning they can be used to make calls. This is impossible on either an iPad or a Windows-powered tablet. Companies like Samsung, Itel, and Tecno manufacture Android tablets. Many of these tablets come at cheap prices.

The Android OS has some similarities with iOS in the sense that they both have millions of apps in their respective stores. However, few of the million apps on the store are actually optimized for large screen and high resolution. Unluckily, they are also more optimized for mobile phones, unlike the Microsoft Windows 10 OS which is built for desktop performance and tablet mobility. With the inclusion of Microsoft for Android tablets, users can easily do some class or office assignments with spread sheets and word processors

Microsoft Windows

The Windows 10 represents the processing power a tablet is expected to possess in today’s data driven world. It is the latest version of Windows which is fundamentally known to be PC software. Microsoft is determined to make it more than PC software. Now, the Windows 10 has been built for touch-screen optimization. With Windows 10, you can run all the legacy software from previous Windows versions like XP to Windows 8. Many Windows tablets come as 2-in-1s which implies that they are great when used either as a full-fledged PC or a tablet. There are many manufacturers designing tablets to be run on the Windows platform.

In spite of all the good points, the Windows store is still notably known to lack plenty of apps like those available on the Android and iOS stores. However, you will find your basic apps on the platform. In case you don’t, remember this is Microsoft Windows. You can integrate it with any software just to ensure you run your preferred apps.

We hope after reading this you will have insights into what kind of OS fits you. If you have further questions, kindly feel free to ask. Stay tuned us as we continue this journey.
