Are you working at the moment. As for your masters, it depends on your area of interest but most people go for construction project management and construction management. there are also others like Msc Construction Law and practice, Msc Facilities Management, Msc QS, Msc QS (Mechanical and Electrical). Like I said ealier it depends on your area of interest.
Re: Surveyors, Builders, Architects & Estate Mgrs' Corner (Aspirants & Professionals) by Nobody: 9:38am On Mar 28, 2010
no i'm not working at the moment, though in should get one in the next 2-3 weeks GOD-willing. i would have loved to get the masters degree before settling for a full time job. THE SCADINAVIAN is an option but their admission just ended, unilag is also an option ansd i am actually thinking about construction management. do you reside in nigeria cos ur location says UK
Re: Surveyors, Builders, Architects & Estate Mgrs' Corner (Aspirants & Professionals) by muyiwabank(m): 12:20pm On Mar 28, 2010
I am in the UK. Construction management is not bad, if you look at all of this courses, you will discover that the modules are very similar to each other. What is the prospect of getting a good job in nigeria as i am interested in coming if i can get something good.
Re: Surveyors, Builders, Architects & Estate Mgrs' Corner (Aspirants & Professionals) by Nobody: 1:38pm On Mar 30, 2010
well the prospects are bright with all these projects going on, your foreign degree would be a whole lot of advantage and that's why i would have preferred my masters abroad. the construction industry is booming now and may explode in the nearest future, but i would advise you to get your foireign masters first before coming to play in the Nigerian league

@deneku good to have you on board, since you are up north, ABU is not a bad idea if they offer facility management, how is Abuja generally, i sometimes shuttle between Lagos and Abuja where i manage quite a number of project with my firm and SPDC, keep us posted on the Msc programme meanwhile best of luck.

@ Hafolabi I also managed a project that spdc was the consultant. Abuja is cool with alot of construction project every where but as you know construction companies dont pay very well is just that you get personal project that will keep you going.
I learnt that niqs result will be out tomorrow and right now a two- day work shop is holding in Abuja.

I needed counseling on the O'level requirements and the university to apply for the course during my Jamb reg. but was not fortunate to meet with the professionals on a forum like this. Felt so happy when I came across it. Though people are yet to join, I must confess that the discussions here are educative. Thanks.

Just stumbled upon this thread, it a good thread though it looks like its for students and job seekers rather than construction professionals, It will be nice if people can discuss issues like site problems, professional practice issues and solutions, rather talk about their qualifications and aspiration in academics.

I'm a practicing architect, so if you will like to know anything about architecture, shoot I will try to help.

Thank you

Finally, we have an Architect in the house!

I think the thread is more of a mentorship kind, rather than a collabo type cos of the demographics of Nigeria's online community.

Why was it so difficult  for us to get Architects on board?

Doesnt the Internet or ICT as a whole play any role in the modern day Building Industry, or people in this sector just prefer to work solo rather than collaborate?

[s]I think you might have to set the ball rolling on some of the issues you raised and then others will chip in.[/s]

K, lets take it from here, I am working with a client right now in the south east (Imo state), he is also in the construction industry, but his practice is in the UK, he wants us to do a project with quality but relatively cheap materials, the materials may not be conventional but they should be practicable and durable for our environment.

Any suggestions please.
