Both of my parents worked and never started a business. Same with my sister, my brother-in-law, and many of my friends.

On the other hand, I’ve started three businesses and one angel fund. I manage two other businesses with a business partner. That business partner is my mentor, who has 40 plus years of entrepreneurial activity, starting, building, and buying businesses. My aunt is an entrepreneur and I believe so was my paternal grandfather (he died the year I was born, so I never got a chance to learn more). Many of my friends are entrepreneurs.

There are many reasons for sticking with your job and never starting a business, such as:

1. Being perfectly content with your job, your boss, your colleagues, and the work;

2. Being able to achieve your goals and priorities with your job;

3. Needing the income and/or the benefits that come with a particular job;

4. Not having the risk tolerance nor risk appetite for starting a business; or

5. Simply not having the desire to start a business.

There is room in the world for different views and aims in life. There is room for both entrepreneurs and employees.
