The Africa Youth Patriotic and Development Mission (AYPDM) on Tuesday called for the reinstatement of the sacked former Chairman of the Presidential Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), Mr Abdulrasheed Maina.
Mr Akoshile Muktar, the Executive Secretary of AYPDM, a Civil Society Organisation, made the call in a statement and made available to newsmen in Abuja.

Muktar said that the allegations of pension theft levied against Maina were ill directed, adding that “the ex-pension boss was the one who has exposed the pension thieves.’’
He said that an independent investigation conducted by the group showed that the allegations against Maina were the handiwork of those involved in the looting of the pension funds.
“Maina and his team were able to discover that over N4.25 billion was being stolen on a monthly basis from the office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.

“In fact, this N4.25 billion went to individual pockets. He also stopped the stealing of another N300 million daily from the Police Pension Office.
“The PRTT under Maina also saved over N24 billion hitherto intended for payment of fake pensioners,’’ Muktar stated.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Maina has been at the centre of corruption allegation with the senate fir misappropriating the pension funds.
Maina was dismissed by the Head of Service of the Federation for allegedly absconding from duty and attempting to evade justice.
“Certain individuals and Government officials whose involvement in pension scam are bent on discrediting the effort of the ex-pension boss.
“They set out and used so many resources in the 7th Senate and the media to discredit him and his team which led to the premature stoppage of the team’s work.
“We hereby call on the presidency to immediately get him back to office so that he can assist this government in fighting this cabal,’’ the statement said.
The statement further said: “this clarion call is based on an independent investigation of the facts as well as reports we received from pensioners and other stakeholders.’’ (NAN)
