Explanation of the case at hand.

The case we are about to look into is no news at all.

It is what everyone has one way or the other heard of, but the mystery behind it remained unsolved!

As you’ve known, what lefwa.com does, is to critically look into such cases, and solve the unsolved mysteries.

But we don’t do that alone, as ‘two heads are better than one’. We solve the mystery with you!

Now let’s head on.

The case is to determine what actually led to the death of Tagbo Umeike, DJ Olu, Chime Amaechi, and Mayowa Ogunbayo. And to know if their death is any how, related to, the man at the center, Davido.

We have made our research and we are about to provide you first, with the explanation of the case. This is for those without prior knowledge of it.

Afterwards, we will also give you the details of the information gathered on it.

Now let’s head to the summary of the case at hand…

According to Vanguard news on 12 OCT 2017. At about 9.20a.m. on October 3, the Chief Security Officer of Lagos Island General Hospital alerted the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Lion Building that, an unidentified male was brought in dead in an ash-coloured Toyota Camry car with number plates LSD 738 EL. The victim was alleged to have been brought in, by two unidentified males.

The DPO rushed to the scene and identified the victim as Tagbo Umeike, from the international passport found in the car.

Shortly after, one Caroline Danjuma, an actress and the victim’s fiancée, published on her Instagram page that her boyfriend died in the company of some friends, among whom was Davido.”

Tagbo died on the eve of his birthday. That, though was a misfortune, but still sounds normal.

Anybody can die at anytime. Dying on the eve of ones birthday is the least thing, a Nigerian will say ‘this is strange’ to.

What was actually alarming was that Davido was said to be present and connected to his death.

The details will soon be explained. Keep reading…

In the grief of that, still in the same week, this happened…

“A case of sudden and unnatural death was reported by the Chief Security Officer of Banana Island Ocean Parade, Ikoyi, on October 7.

The case was reported to the Divisional Police Officer that two persons, Olugbemiga Abiodun (DJ Olu) and Chime Amechina, were found dead inside one white-coloured, BMW Saloon, car with number plates, KJA 631 AY, at an underground garage in the estate.”

Well… Death is natural, we shall all die one day or the other. So this could have been overlooked after condolences to the deseaseds’ family.

What actually blew a whistle was that, the deads are also friends and co-workers of Davido.

The strange death of three of his friends in a single week! Lefwa guess this is enough to draw the attention of the public. And it did…

As if that wasn’t enough.

According to lindaikejisblog and nairaland front-page.

Mayowa Ogunbayo, who was friends with footballer Mario Balotelli as well as Nigerian pop star, “Davido” has been found stabbed to death in his luxury flat in London.

Why only the man in quote, Davido? This has actually gotten out of hand. Hasn’t it? Four related to him died in less than a month.

We can hear you say, this need to be investigated, perhaps, there is more to it! Don’t go too far, Lefwa.com has done that for you.

Let’s go to the next chapter where we will supply you with all the gathered information from A-Z.

Shall we?

Information gathered on the death of, Tagbo Umeike, DJ Olu, Chime Amaechi, and Mayowa Ogunbayo.

The death of Tagbo Umeike.

Tagbo Umeike, whom was said to be known by Davido, died on October 3, 2017, in an ash-colored Camery Toyota car.

He was rushed into Lagos State General Hospital, with the aforementioned car by two unidentified men. He died before the doctor could get to attend to him.

Where was he before being rushed to the Hospital?

According to Naij, Vanguard, and Punch.

He was reported to have been to Shisha Bar on the eve of his birthday. Also present at Shisha Bar was Davido and his crew.

Vanguard News says: “The deceased, Tagbo Umeike, met and had drinks with friends among who was Davido, at Shisha Bar.

The bar attendant confirmed that he (deceased) had 40 shots of Tequila and exhibited clear signs of drunkenness.

The CCTV footage showed that the deceased was quarrelsome and violent in that meeting.”

So? How was that related to Davido?

“According to an alleged eyewitness, Davido and his friends, started a drinking competition, where the singer Davido placed a price of N200, 000 and Iphone 8 for the winner.

Tagbo was said to have won the competition, consuming heavy 40 shots of Tequila but failed to live to tell of his conquest.”

Vanguard concluded.

Hmmm… This is serious. Not surprised, it is common among the rich kids. So how was all that brought to light?

The case first attracted the public attention when Tagbo’s fiancée, Caroline Danjuma reportedly said that Davido had some explanations to make about Tagbo’s death.

Every lady would have done that, right? But the way she did her’s was slightly outrageous. Tagbo's girlfriend , Caroline Danjuma

According to Premium Times… Danjuma wrote on her Instagram page,

“Davido where is Tagbo?

He was with you and your crew last night.

You all wore fez caps to hide your identities after he died in your car. You dumped him at the general hospital and ran away…

the law must play its role this time…

you all better provide Tagbo alive.@davidoofficial.

“After you all abandoned him at the general hospital, you continued your stupid grooving at DNA and had the nerves to promote your show.

This is not an ordinary boy that you can intimidate his family…

We need you to tell us how he died in your car and why you ran away. The police and the hospital confirmed that you all ran away.

If you think your money can save you, you just met your match.”

She also dismissed insinuations that Tagbo died from drunkenness, saying he was not a drunkard.

“Even in death, lies are being told of you.

Those who knew you knew you never drank to an extent of getting drunk…

the wicked shall never go unpunished. RIP.

The truth is already out. Today (Wednesday) is your birthday. Happy super birthday,”
Danjuma added.

This brought to light that, Davido was the owner of the ash-coloured Toyota Camry that took Tagbo down to the Hospital.

Definitely he would be connected to the unknown men who dumped Tagbo at the Hospital, then ran into hidings.

Could it be that, Davido paid those guys to drop Tagbo in the hospital after he rendered himself lifeless, just to win a silly competition.

Perhaps, Davido regretted ever starting that competition. You can’t tell yet. Read on and find out more…

Re: The One Who Killed Tagbo, Dj Olu, Chime Amaechi And Ogunbanyo Is Not Davido by Lefwa: 2:48am On Oct 29, 2017
Isn’t the best thing for Davido to have done, is keep his silence, and watch the next move? He did the opposite by replying Danjuma.

Guardian Online news portal says He wrote:

“People are just wicked this what I get for treating everyone like my brother. I was deeply saddened to hear of the sudden death of my friend, Tagbo.

First and foremost my sincere condolences and prayers are with his family and friends at this time.

I’ve been in this position before multiple times and also of recent. But it is also disappointing that false information and complete lies have been put out there using my name as usual.

Out of total respect for Tagbo and his family, I’ll not discuss this matter further for now.”

Tell me what more does he has to say, he had said enough, to confirm that he was involved.

Maybe he doesn’t know that, here in Nigeria. When you publish a write up of this kind, perhaps to seek sympathy.

The next thing is, “guy, tell us the truth, did you kill him?”.

The case is even worse if you are a celebrity. You have made them see the reply as your weakness.

Anybody will write to you pointing accusing fingers, because you have shown them a sign that you will reply them. See what happened next…

Following Nairaland front-page.

A follower attacked Davido with write up:

The Follower, @kellydgreat_ said:

“Drama King Davido, you’re responsible for the death of three of your friends, Tagbo, Chime, DJ Olu who all died the same way within the period of 3 days.

We really need serious investigation.

Something is fishy about the mysterious death of 3 of your friends in less than a week.

The rich always get away with murder cases in Nigeria, but this time, your Money can’t safe you.

I am an insider who know the whole story. The world will know the truth”

Can anyone tell Lefwa, what truth does this guy know?

If he does, why has he hidden his face all this while. Why can’t he report it to the police, or better still, post it on his Instagram page?

At least that won’t reveal him. If he wants to keep himself hidden.

All he wanted to do was to hit Davido. He saw the weakness, and he new he could reply.

And, don’t know the adjective to qualify Davido at the moment. Could you believe he fell and replied.

This time all he could say was; God bless you!

That guy has been frustrated. But wait… Could it be true?

Did he actually kill them? But how? For what? Let’s discover the mystery together. Keep reading…

After he was accused by Tagbo’s girl, police came in fully.

Davido was invited to Lion Building. He was interrogated! During the interrogation, for a who knows the reason, Davido lied.

Davido, during investigation, reportedly told the investigative team at Lion Building, Lagos Island, that he was not at Shisha Bar, from where the deceased was rushed and dumped at the Lagos Island General Hospital.

He, rather, said he left the bar for DNA Night Club in Victoria Island area of the state, where he was informed about Tagbo’s death.

However, while briefing newsmen on the update of the investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Police Command, Imohimi Edgal, disclosed that preliminary investigation showed that late Umeike was rushed to the hospital on David’s instruction.

So, what’s going on, isn’t that fishy? Why would he lie to the police. Or was it the police and the other claimed to be witness the ones lying? Well…

We shall soon find out, read on…

Not long after that, the men that dropped Tagbo’s corpse were arrested by the police. During the investigation, they revealed their reason behind what they did.

Here is what they say.

According to sun…

Some of the suspects who are in custody are Davido’s police security detail, Tunde Yussuf , as well as his friends Busari Idris and Agbeja Olaoye all of who completely exonerated Davido.

According to Yussuf, who is a spy policeman , he was posted to work for Davido as part of his security details. He said that on the day of the unfortunate incident, they had gone to a party with the pop star at a club known as Shasha Room where they met Tagbo already drunk.

After spending some time, they moved to Oniru beach where Fuji music star Wasiu Ayinde was to perform at a birthday party that night.

According to him, they expected Tagbo to go home since he was already drunk but was surprised that he followed them to that place too.

Moments later, one of Davido’s boys informed them that Tagbo was not okay. He said, Davido then requested that they should take one of his Hilux vehicles and follow those taking Tagbo to the hospital.

As soon as they got there, the boys who took Tagbo to the hospital rushed in to call the police.

“He was still in the car when the doctor came out and checked him and then said that he is dead.

Moments later, the boys came out and told me that it was time to get out of the hospital.”

The second suspect Olaoye who was in the car with Tagbo before he died told the police that he fled when the doctor confirmed him dead to avoid being treated as his killer.

According to Olaoye, Tagbo was at the party long before Davido arrived and there was so much free drinks.

“He demanded for a drink known as tequila and probably to show that he can consume a lot and still stay sane, took several shots of the drink.

As at the time Davido wanted to leave the party for another one, Tagbo was already drunk and violent.

Davido who was concerned about his plight offered to carry him in his car but was advised against it because he was drunk and misbehaving.

They advised him to go home but he insisted that he was going to the beach party with them. He then joined their car which was part of the convoy .

It was while they were there that he started screaming and gasping for breath.”

At that point, he said they contacted Davido through the boys who were around him and they were told that Davido asked that he should be taken to the hospital immediately.

On their way, he also noticed that one of Davido’s security men followed them to the hospital.

Olaoye insists that Tagbo was still breathing when they arrived at the hospital. They ran into the hospital requesting that there was an emergency, unfortunately by the time the doctor arrived, Tagbo had died.

They were then asked to fill a from to enable the hospital prepare his death certificate. They were able to get his international passport to get his correct name and age.

“The doctor then said that people in-charge of such case were coming and that we should wait and meet them before the corpse can be kept in the mortuary.”

Olaoye knew that they were referring to the police, so they all decided to run away from the hospital. They quickly jumped into the Hillux driven by Davido’s security detail and left the hospital.

They also tried calling Davido to let him know the outcome of their trip to the hospital but his phones were switched off.

Everyone of them retired to their various houses with the hope that by the next day they would help trace Tagbo’s family members.

Insisting that they are all innocent , Olaoye told the police that they ran away that night because in Nigeria, “even if it is clear that you had nothing to do with the death of someone, as long as you were at the scene, they will lock you up and accuse you of murder.”

Busari Idris who was also in the car on the day of the unfortunate incident also confirmed Olaoye’s statement.

He said that they only knew his details from the international passport found in his wallet.”

If this was what actually happened, Davido wasn’t at fault then. But what he said to the police seems to be sightly different from what had been said by his men.

Davido couldn’t keep quiet after the accusations by the police and the words of those men.

So he made his lawyer write to the public, his own side of the story.

As the proverb goes that; “he who judge by listening to a side of story, is actually, a wicked one”, so Lefwa would suggest we listen to his own side too.
Re: The One Who Killed Tagbo, Dj Olu, Chime Amaechi And Ogunbanyo Is Not Davido by Lefwa: 2:55am On Oct 29, 2017
Below is Davido’s story from his lawyer.

Exactly according to Vanguard.

The statement by Davido’s lawyer, Norrison Quakers (SAN), entitled The Unfortunate Death of Tagbo Umeike; Davido’s Story, read:

“Our attention as solicitors to Mr. David Adeleke aka Davido, has been drawn to statements and comments both on the social, electronic and print media including but not limited to a very recent publication by national daily, wherein various statements credited to the Acting Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Mr. Edgal Imohimi, insinuating inter alia that our client has a case to answer in the unfortunate demise of one Mr. Tagbo Umeike.

“The said publications have all caused our client; Mr. David Adeleke (otherwise known as Davido), a lot of undue embarrassment thus necessitating the need to present the facts as they stand, since the unfortunate incidence is now in the public domain.

“First of all we wish to state that our client was never arrested but rather made himself available to assist the police in its investigation and after a satisfactory explanation, he was allowed to go.

“It is imperative to state that the evidence and footage available to the Police discloses the chain of events leading to the discovery of the remains of Mr. Tagbo Umeike do not in any way incriminate our Client, but rather absolves him of any criminal culpability; a fact that the Police is aware of.

“For the records, we wish to state that our Client has not been found culpable for the death of Mr. TagboUmeike, and this was earlier communicated by the police in a closed meeting involving the Acting Commissioner of Police, Lagos, Davido, the family of the deceased and one Caroline Danjuma who claims to be girlfriend of the deceased.

“Our client was also not involved in the untimely death of the deceased, nor did he give any instructions to anyone to ‘dump’ the corpse of Mr. TagboUmeike anywhere. Further, and as a matter of fact, we wish to state that the deceased did not step a foot, even for a second, in any of our Client’s vehicles on the evening of this sad series of events.

“The facts that can be distilled from the CCTV footage obtained from “Shisha Room” are that on or about 12:23 am in the early hours of Tuesday the 3rd of October, 2017 our Client got ready to leave the premises of the “Shisha Room”, where he had gone to earlier in the company of some of his friends to celebrate the birthday of one Clarks Adeleke.

“Again, we reiterate our client arrived at the Shisha Room in his vehicle with his friends and the deceased arrived about one hour later in his own vehicle. The CCTV footage obtained from the ‘Shisha Room’ captured our Client and some others, including the deceased all standing close to our Client’s vehicle as he prepared to leave after the drinks and celebrations.

“The deceased is seen in that footage to be in a very drunken and intoxicated state as he was staggering and falling on the people around him. Our Client tried to convince the deceased person to get into his vehicle in his drunken state so as to take him home safely, but this overture on our Client’s part was declined by the deceased.

“The CCTV footage further revealed that our Client drove out of the premises of ‘Shisha Room’, while the deceased went back into the ‘Shisha Room’ in the company of most of the people who were all at the car park at the time of our Client’s departure.

“After departing from the ‘Shisha Room’ our Client honored an invitation to a bar at Oniru Beach and subsequently went on to DNA Night Club. Regrettably, while in DNA Night Club with some friends, he received the tragic news of the death of the deceased.

“It is unfortunate that the stories making the news on the print, electronic and social media seek to portray our Client as a liar and a callous friend. We wish to state unequivocally on behalf of our Client, that he was not present at the time of the death of the deceased, neither did he give anyone directives or instructions to take the remains of the deceased to the general hospital or to the morgue.

“Our Client had no knowledge of the deceased’s movement after he last saw him at the ‘Shisha Room’. Rather, it was friends of the deceased (who out of concern for the deceased) and without our Client’s knowledge drove the deceased in (the deceased’s car) to the hospital, while our Client’s police details escorted the deceased’s car in our Client’s Hilux Pilot truck.

“This they did, because they knew the deceased to be their Boss’ friend and were merely helping a fellow human being who was in need of help. “Our Client maintains that he has not in any way lied about what he knows about the unfortunate incident, neither has his statement to the Police been incoherent as unfortunately been presented in the media.

“Others involved have consistently maintained in their respective statements to the Police that our Client did not instruct them to take the remains of the deceased to the hospital, nor did the deceased enter our Client’s vehicle at any point that evening, nor does he have a hand in the death or transport of the remains of the deceased.

“Our Client is presently grieving the loss of two of his friends, and deeply condoles with their immediate families; and as his Solicitors, it is our duty to set the records straight by bringing and putting into the public space/ domain the truth of what actually transpired.

“It is disheartening that the image of our Client is being tarnished by mischief makers whose jaundiced publications and statements have had a negative impact on our Client’s emotional wellbeing, family and his fan base.

“We therefore appeal to the members of the public to desist from jumping into uninformed conclusions about the unfortunate incidence, and further appeal to the media to also desist from negative publications that seek to project our Client in bad light.

“Our client in honour of the memory of his departed friends, has suspended his next few shows and musical engagements. We commiserate with the families of the deceased and pray that God will comfort them at a time like this.”

Everything said by those men, what was said by the alleged eye-witness, and what Davido’s lawyer wrote, tallies to some extent.

But Lefwa can not help but to notice, minor contradictions.

Davido didn’t say, he started a drinking competition. He also denied asking those men to take Tagbo to the Hospital.

Below is Davido and his lawyer picture.

Re: The One Who Killed Tagbo, Dj Olu, Chime Amaechi And Ogunbanyo Is Not Davido by Lefwa: 2:58am On Oct 29, 2017
Then comes the Messiah.

Daily post news portal, provided us with the result of the autopsy carried out on Tagbo, to determine the cause of his death.

Read the details below:

The Medical Examiner’s Office autopsy has revealed that alcohol was a substantial factor in the death of a 35-year-old Tagbo Umeike, the friend of Davido who died on his birthday.

The result also showed that he had alcohol and drugs in his system capable of easing a person into the early stages of hypothermia and eventual death.

The toxicology tests detected alcohol (Bacardi 151, 75.5% Alcohol) and topiramate, a medication for epilepsy and/or migraines in a man’s system, in Tagbo Umeike.’

Tagbo’s blood-alcohol concentration (BAC) was at 0.112, higher than the 0.08 legal limit for normal human being state, the coroner’s office stated.

While his family claims that Tagbo “didn’t have a prescription for any type of topiramate medication”, the coroner’s office stated that the amount of drug in Tagbos’ system was in the “therapeutic range.”

A statement by the coroner’s office said, “Alcohol and topiramate are synergistic.

When combined, the effect of either or both drugs is enhanced.”

“Topiramate, like alcohol, can cause dizziness, impaired memory, impaired concentration, poor coordination, confusion and impaired judgment.

“Central nervous system depression, or impairment, combined with cold exposure can hasten the onset of hypothermia and death.”

So everyone can see that, it seems Davido had no hand in Tagbo’s death. He killed himself.

Even though, another source says, he died of suffocation. But let’s reason it out. Anything can suffocate a man. It could be the work of the Alcohol.

We have seen a man died after gulping large amount of McDowell. So this is not absolutely impossible!

What later happened?

Everyone started backing off.

Even the person that made the incident a public affair, Caroline Danjuma, had deleted the post on her Instagram page.

She also said, she wasn’t accusing Davido of killing him. She just said that he died in his car.

Davido was, at last, delivered. But interrogation might still be going on, underneath.

But that isn’t all.

He was also accused of killing DJ Olu, Chime Amechi, and Mayowa Ogunbayo.

Though, these people are all connected to him, but he wasn’t physically present when they died. So the allegations against him are not genuine.

As no traces could be led to him.

Moreover, Linda ikeji blog, Naij, Nairaland front page, and Vanguard, reported that DJ Olu and Chime Amechi died in a car. And substance suspected to be hard drug where found on them.

Further more, Mayowa Ogunbayo, was alleged to have been stabbed to death by his girlfriend, not Davido. He wasn’t even present in London, at that time.

Finally, he is cleared!

But the fact still remains that, he gave a slightly different report of Tagbo’s death. We will soon talk on that…

Above are the information that surrounded the case.

Are you tired? Guess No. Now let’s go to the next chapter, where you will get to know, the conclusion Lefwa derived from the information.

Hint: You might find answer as to why Davido lied.

Re: The One Who Killed Tagbo, Dj Olu, Chime Amaechi And Ogunbanyo Is Not Davido by Lefwa: 3:01am On Oct 29, 2017
Lefwa’s conclusion on the information gathered.
And our “What-likely-happened” in this case.

After gathering the information from different angles. We brought them together, critically analyzed them, and come out with the conclusion below.

1. Tagbo died of suffocation as a result of too much alcohol in his body system. The alcohol hindered his breathing, then he died.

2. DJ Olu and Chime amechi died of something totally different from, anything that can be said to be ‘Davido’s conspiracy’.

No traces of their death could be linked to him.

He even dedicated awards ( Afrimma Awards, to DJ Olu, Chime, and Tagbo ).

He also dedicated his new album to DJ Olu. What more could he have done?

Re: The One Who Killed Tagbo, Dj Olu, Chime Amaechi And Ogunbanyo Is Not Davido by Lefwa: 3:02am On Oct 29, 2017
3. Davido lied to the police! It is hard to say but Lefwa thinks, Davido told some lies in his story from his lawyer.

That doesn’t mean he killed them.

Lefwa thinks, he started the drinking competition. Tagbo gulped 40 shot of tequila, which made him the winner.

Davido brought him closer, Tagbo even escorted him to the car when he was leaving.

Later Davido was informed of Tagbo’s condition, that he couldn’t breath very well again. Then Davido ordered for him to be taken to the Hospital.

No celebrity would want his name tarnished by what he knows nothing about. Now he was about to get into a big trouble, facing a murder case.

What had he got to do? Lie, just to take off the rope on his neck.

If you were in his position, We bet you would have said, ” No, I didn’t even step out of my room all through the day.”

It’s a murder case, everyone would panic. Even a superstar!

4. In conclusion, with the information gathered, and if spirituality is not to be considered. Davido might be innocent.

So bloggers, stop panting him ‘red’. We should be happy, Nigeria has got a man of his talent that is making us proud.

So let’s stop making him look the devil.

Our advice for Davido and every celebrity out there is that, they should be mindful of the type of game they play! They should try to control money, and not to let money control them.
